Title: a new member!
Post by: LouisL on December 13, 2019, 06:12:17 PM
A new R65 owner and a new R65.org member...

Doing this on my phone. I attached a photo of the bike so let's see if it works. Love that boxer engine.

The fairing is gone, converting back to stock.

The handle bars are bent and need to be replaced. If anyone can point me to reasonably priced stock bars, that would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Louis

Welcome, new member LouisL; that looks like a pretty good R65.

For bars, check the Flanders company, and be certain that you order bars which are 22mm diameter; 7/8" diameter will NOT work with your BMW controls.  Flanders bars will probably be as inexpensive as any you might buy and are a quality from an old-line company.

If your fairing was purchased by someone who cannot use the R65-specific frame mount, I would like to purchase it, as I have an old Vesco "Rabid Transit" fairing which I bought with a frame mount to fit a /6 BMW, and that mount will not fit my R65's frame.

At any rate, good luck with your new acquisition.  Has it been in use recently, or was it in storage?  Mine was in storage and the recommissioning process has been tedious.

Best, Tom Martin (aka here as "Tiggum")

Thanks for the nice welcome.

Here is a pic of the bike today. I still have the fairing.

The Quicksilver is a perfect fairing for an R65, never seen the screen cut like that though!  Here's the wifes with "unmolested" screen.

Nice bike! I like the blue. The fairing looks better with the full windscreen but I prefer the naked bike look.
