Title: Newbie joining the group. Thank You All!
Post by: John T on June 12, 2018, 07:13:16 PM
Greetings fellow R65 owners. Some history about myself:

Bought my first beemer (1973 R75/6) new in '73 at ripe 'ol age of 21. Drove continuously for almost a year, sold it and got a brand new 1974 R90/6, which I've had ever since. Sadly, once both of our children wanted to ride with me at same time, I put the bike 'in storage' temporarily while Victorian house renovations took place. Sadly, the R90 sat for way too many years. Multiple house moves, medical issues, you know, 'life' got in the way of riding.

Fast forward to current:  Purchased a 'running' 1979 R65 three weeks ago. Knew the owner and had seen the bike around town for a few years. When I went to look/purchase, the clutch cable was broken and gone and it looks pretty rough, but...I hope to play with the R65 while restoring the R90. Obviously, I need to do full fluid refresh, check wheel bearings, etc.

I'm hoping you folks can steer me in the right direction once I start bombarding you with questions. I'll try not to get out of line with questions.

Thanks for putting up the board and I'm hopeful that I can contribute back in the future.

Cheers,
John

Welcome John,
As an old friend used to say... pictures, without pictures your bike does not exist.
You may find many answers in the tech section if not fire away.

Thanks for the greeting. I intended to get a photo up with the first post, but thought I'd better hold off until I learn the rules.

I've already got questions, but I will try to post in the correct place.

Thanks again!

That's pretty, and looks very un-interfered with too.
