The data center that our servers are located in have been under major DDoS attacks for the past couple of days. The trouble-ticket indicated that most of them have been resolved but there are ongoing intermittent attacks... Hopefully they will get things totally straightened out shortly.
-
I noticed the site not being available the last few days .
I tried on a company computer, my home pc and smart phone .
-
I had trouble as well but was using my phone and didn't know if that was part of it. Just now was the first time I was able to get right to the site. But for the past several days, I kept getting blank pages and had to refresh everytime I wanted to go to a new one.
Hopefully it's fixed now.......
-
Spoke to soon? Just got the same blank page trying to get on here.........
-
I have checked the host's support page and another trouble ticket has been opened for DDoS at the Michigan data center. Hopefully they will get it under control shortly. The issues started sometime on the evening of the 4th, I noticed a serious speed degradation and off-and-on I would try to bring up something and get maybe a half page and it stalled.

Here's the latest from the hosting company.
"...Over the past few days A2 Hosting has been the target of several large-scale Distributed Denial of Service, or DDoS, attacks...
"...We believe these attacks are deliberately directed at A2 Hosting, as opposed to any particular customer.
"We regularly mitigate many small to medium-scale DDoS attacks without our customers even noticing. However, these recent attacks have been unprecedented in magnitude and therefore have been more difficult to deal with. Many of the recent attacks have been over 40Gbps in size with the largest being over 120Gbps. In comparison, the size of a typical DDoS attack tends to be around 1-2Gbps..."

The Hosting company has sure performed flawlessly up until the attack. Looks like they fought it off and we are back to normal.
Do any of us know why somebody would attack a hosting site???? Is this just the "new millennium" vandalism?
-
I think with many, unless they have some problem with a particular host or site, it's a "just to see if we can" type thing. Kind of vandalism but instead of just mindlessly destruction, maybe a test of their technical skills? Still mindless. Seems like there are plenty of more deserving targets if that's all they want to do though.
-
Who knows why dick-heads do the stuff they do - probably not enough whuppins when during their formative years...
'Scuse the French...
-
Haha, no problem with your French, you're probably right. The other reason is that they can do such things hiding in a basement behind a keyboard. And most likely with no repercussions.
-
When I see obvious hack attempts in our error log I always look up the IP and 90% are from Russia and China.
-
How strange to read this - here in Australia I had no problem getting on the site at all.
.
I still can't log in on my Android phone though, That's weird one as my last Android phone (up to about 4 months ago) was fine.
.
Any ideas anyone????????
-
I am using my phone so I thought that was the problem initially. I have an Android (Samsung S5). As far as logging in, no problems with that.
Could you give some details as to what happens when you try (error messages?) maybe someone can help figure it out?
-
Hi bpt - well I'm finally logged in. I deleted the bookmark for the site and went thru Google to get the web site link again.
.
So whatever the problem was it was somehow linked to the bookmark I had for the site.
.
I hope it lasts ;)
-
Sometimes it's the simple things, just not always so simple to figure out which simple thing it is!
I have to do that at work frequently, type thinges in manually that look very much like the old link. But that takes care of it.
