Hi Folks,
Not sure if its me or my computer, but I am really struggling to add images in the correct format to the forum.
My I.T savvy kids tell me the forum format should be placed in a museum...
I have used my iphone 6 to photograph the bike, saved these to my up to date work PC, try to add them to the forum and nobody can understand why the images are in the wrong orientation!
Its very frustrating, any ideas from anyone?
-
iphone images are nearly always in the wrong orientation when transferred to a PC. When I get sent pictures of my granddaughter the first thing I have to do is turn them the right way up using paint.net . Once they display the correct way up on a pc they should display fine on the forum.
-
Thanks Barry
-
What i have found is Iphone images depend on the position of the phone when images are taken. The push button on the phone must be to the right or on the bottom when the photo is taken. Iphones shift the image to the up orientation but micro soft computers don't.
-
Thanks Skippyc

Well, here's a thought, if more members donated, this site could be updated !!!!!! ;)
Question to Justin, are enough members contributing to this site to make it self sustaining financially ???
-
Good point Bob,
I know what I need to do...
-
The few donations we get just pay for hosting and domain registration. We are using this software because it's free, anyway I think wiz-bang looking forums are distracting and resource intensive.
-
OK, thanks Justin !!
You mentioned a few weeks ago, that it would be a lot more work for admin, for more enhanced features .
I was just curious, if you had to put money into this site to keep it operational .
-

+1
-
Bob, I don't know exactly how much the annual upkeep is as suraklyn takes care of all of that other than the domain renewal which I take care of. We pull whatever money is in the "pot" to hopefully take care of it.
-
So if one wanted to contribute, what is the procedure?
-
At the top of the page, there is a window with PayPal on it

at 1:30 this afternoon I got kicked off and couldn't get back on. When I tried to sign on I would get the following message.
User ID / Password mismatch.
The User ID you specified does not exist or you entered a wrong password.
I hit the forgot my password button and used the same pass word as before and I was on........ but when I logged off I couldn't get back in.
Now at 6PM I changed my password to the same ol password and I'm on and after logging out the site auto logged me back on..........
Gremlins at work somewhere.............................

same thing happened when I went to got home at 3pm... I was knocked off and was able to get back on by changing my password to the same ol password I have always used......
am I the last to have any issues? when it happnes I will just as a note here incase there are others that have a hiccup at the same time
-
Next time that happens just click the "Board Index" tab and see what happens. I have no idea what the problem is but it started all of a sudden and continues even after new forum software. The YaBB support people think there has to have been something that has been "upgraded" or changed at the host.
-

I'll do it...........

I shut the PC down last night(rarely do that) and it would not autolog me on this morning when I fired it up. 4:30ish this morning.
I did click on the Board Index with no revelation.... just took me there as a guest.
Interestingly I manually logged on retyping my password and it let me on. Now the password that was there had been working just last night with no problem, b ut I retyped it and it logged me on
I had done that very thing dozens of times before with no joy, but this morning it worked...........
I see no chatter about this issue any longer......... am I the last guy with issues?? If so I will get a fresh machine and a new load of windows and give it a whirl. I always get the same error message " screen name /password mismatch"
-
I'm having trouble with being able to use the back arrow to return to a previous post or thread. I literally cannot go back. I have to click the 'Board Index" tab and then start my search from scratch.
Anyone else having that issue?
-
Anyone else having that issue?
My back and forth arrows work fine.......... trade ya an arrow for a couple of good log on's LOLOLOLOLO
-
am I the last to have any issues?
FWIW I was locked out of the forum for 12 hours. tried to get on this morning(early) multiply times with no luck. Went to reset my password( which has worked for me in the past) and the site said it sent me a link to do that but never got the mail. I did that 4 times but never got one response............... I let a couple of hours go by and tried a password reset again, I did it twi9ce and I got both reset mails this time........ the first one I used the link and it came back with user name invalid(WTF?) The second one worked and I reset my password back to what it has been for years and it let me sign on, and here I am.
It had been working fine for weeks and WHAMO it takes a dump.
I guess the site is singling me out for excellence , huh
-
The site had me as a guest for a few days over Xmas, then I opened the site the other day and was logged in as normal.
Computers...
-
I've not had any problems for weeks now.
-
the site said it sent me a link to do that but never got the mail. I did that 4 times but never got one response..
They just came in.... 186,000 miles per second and it took 12 hours for the reset mail to get here.............
-
I still get locked out for hours and when I finally get logged in, I can't make any posts .
I think this site is built upon ancient Native American burial ground and the spirits are not happy !!! :D
-
still get locked out for hours and when I finally get logged i
Well it isn't just me then. There must be some rouge electrons roaming around someplace that are bludgeoning us at times....... here it's just a pita, but I would hate to be at another site holding pocket Aces when they strike GRRRRRR
-
There was a several hour period I couldn't log on the other day (with 3 different browsers). I logged on to the server, downloaded some logs, and in the middle of trying to figure out what was going on I was able to log in...
I seriously don't understand what is going on but I now believe it is something on the host server causing this
-
I think a human sacrifice is in order to appease the internet gods !!! 8-)
-
Ever since the up grade I have had log in issues or staying logged in once logged in. Also showing new post are not always what is really new. Example in the BMW TECH post on oil leak out speed o hole. It shows me that Barry is the new poster since last time I was online. But Barry is not that last person to post. We I go back it shows the last person that did the post. Something is not right with new software or server.
Don
-
don - people (including myself) were starting to have login issues even on the old software that's why I upgraded to the latest stable version. The login issues persisted after the upgrade and across multiple browsers. The only constant is the hosting server.
Next time you, or anybody, has a login problem e-mail admin with the exact time you tried to log in, your IP (if you know it), and any error message. I'll look at the server access log and see if there might be a clue there.
-
Will do
-
Justin
I don''t think you have a server problem at all. I have done a test when I have had trouble logging in and there is a 100% correlation between me not being able to log in or having trouble logging in and the degree of latency I have at the time with my internet connection.
I think that the problem is the degree of caching being employed both by ISPs and "long haul" data cable owners which leads to the forum software becoming "confused" when packets arrive either in the wrong order or with varying delays between reception.
I'd suggest that everyone having problems logging in informally "map" the time that they have problems with peak useage times in their country.
It may be possible to "relax' the forum software a little but I'd be disinclined to do so myself in case that opened a vulnerability.
-
Tony, that's interesting, I hadn't considered that. Next time I have a login problem I'll ping the site and do a tracert to the site to see if I can see any obvious lags...
-
After being locked out of the site for hours yesterday. I gave up waiting to see when the site would let me back on.............
The way I got on and it has worked almost every time I get locked out is to reset your password. You don't have to change it, you can just re-enter the same password you have been using.
At sign on click " forgot my password" and it will email you a link. Click on the link and it will take you to your profile and just enter your password just the way it was and you'll be in.
It's worked for me 6 out of seven times. The windows saved password that the site had been rejecting for hours will now work after you do a "password reset" to the same password you were using before.
Go figure, huh?
-
With my unusual work schedule, I've been online in the early morning hours, 1-5 AM weekdays and weekends and still had issues getting logged in, staying logged on .
-
and still had issues getting logged in, staying logged on
Bob see if that password reset gets you on the next time you get locked out
-
I just stay in guest mode, if I get logged out .
This is not an issue for me, I just come back later and make a posting when I am logged in .
-
I'm not sure what was going on with your issue, Joe. When you couldn't log in I logged in fine with your id/PW - strange.
I have never had it refuse to take my password before. When I can't get logged in it's like a security token, or something, gets screwed up and the forum acts like I didn't even attempt logging in and there is nothing in the forum error log. When you , and a couple others, had issues the other day I saw a bunch of errors in the log for:
"User ID / Password mismatch.
The User ID you specified does not exist or you entered a wrong password."
-

I just tried to get on at 8:30ish and it came back password mismatch. I immediately just reset my password to what it has always been and now I'm in
my machine is sending the same saved password as when it was being rejected....... something about the reset..... why should the same password work after the reset procedure......... unless the password in the site is getting corrupted and when I reset it puts it back right...hmmmmmm
-
This is a bit of a wild card because the problem does sound to be forum related. However it's so quick and easy that it's worth a try for Windows users. It does successfully resolve some logon issues for us at work.
Open up credential manager in the control panel and look to see if there is an entry related to R65.org. If there is click on it and select remove.
Credential manager is where your computer stores some logon information and sometimes it gets out of syn or corrupted. If it exits in the first place, removing the entry forces it to be recreated correctly at the next logon.
-
Couldn't get on twice in the last two days.
The first time the password reset worked. The next time I retyped my saved password and it got me on.
Sorry I did not check my credentials before doing that rats &#*^%$
Hope this ongoing issue isn't responsible for the low chatter lately :-[

This is usually a slow time of year for the site, as most members are in the firm grip of winter in the northern hemisphere .
Except for members in the warmer regions . :)
-
When I see a failed login attempt in the error log I can ftp to the site and grab the raw error log and see what username and password are submitted. I don't, however, know whether whether it is correct or not as the stored password is encrypted and can't be viewed. I often see people with multiple failures in a row using different variations of username and/or password.
-
The next time mine screws up I will document to the hilt
-
document to the hilt
At 9:52 PST I could not sign in...... tried 4 times with the saved password
I went in and checked Credentials and all was good. Tried to sign in again and NO GO
I went and hit forgot my password and I went in and changed it to what it already was and now I'm in and can get in repeatedly

I'll check the logs...
-
My credentials showed fj1200 Not FJ1200 lower case is what it should be
-
According to the log what was received in was upper-case. Very strange... Maybe some of our "nerds" that aren't as "obsolete" as I am might have some thoughts on this?
-

I'll run this buy some "Networking" folks I work with. I'm doing some data rearrangements on Friday nights and I always have a really sharp person at tech support in case something goes "bump in the night" during our cut overs. Maybe he can shed some light on this issue.
-
I have not had any issues the last 3 weeks or so .
Now, I'm sure I've cursed myself !!!!! :o
-
Way to go, Bob...
-
Great, I noticed right after I posted that this thread has been read 666 times... :o
-
been read 666 times...
HELP! I've fallen and can't log in....... ;D
-
Once again, got booted and could not sign on. I tried about 6-7 times after 4:11 PST and could not get on. checked credentials and they were right "fj1200"
I got a password reset and reset to fj1200 and I'm back on
I'm in and out of facebook and other auto login and never a problemo
-

Next time instead of "checking" what password is stored in your browser go ahead and manually enter the password and see what happens.

I did that also a couple of times

Here are the block of failed logins for you:
At 6:42=6:43 PST I logged in successfully 5-6 times..... do they look any different?
-
If you logged in successfully it won't be entered into the "error log." I'll download the raw access log for the web-site from the ISP to see if I can find your attempts there. I'm not really sure exactly what is logged by the ISP...
-
The error log showed the upper case FJ I'd like to see if a good attempt showed the real lower case fj
Thought that would give us a big clue
-
I was booted off last night and had to do the " forgot my password thing to get back in.
Today I could not get on and it took the site over 40 minutes to send me the password link emial.
If you don't know to reset your password to get on your aren't going to get on. Now they won't send a link in a timely manner so you stilkl can't get on.
I'm not sure if folks will go thru this for much longer. I think you may not see more gripes because they can't get on to piss and moan about it or they have just stopped trying and have moved on.
Not good Mc Gee
-
While I do not doubt the problems Wilcom has been having for a second, mine have all gone away and I've had no difficulty getting on for weeks now.
There's the solution Joe - move to Australia.
-
and I've had no difficulty getting on for weeks now.
You haven't had a problem for 2 weeks, but it's been going on for almost 2 months. I have had 10 days with no hitches and then twice in 2 days!!
It's not me I worry about, I got a hack with the reset password that gets me on....... but others could face a higher level of frustration and not be a whiny ass like me and no one will be the wiser. Like a store/bar with irregular closing hours, pretty soon ya just don't go there anymore. Where with me if I saw them turning chairs upside down I would be banging on the door wanting know what the hell is going on!!!
Juat say'n

I downloaded the raw site access log from the ISP server and after searching it I found that the access log does not record username passed OR password. It shows the request from the client and what module is invoked but no data.
-
No problems signing on for a long time!! The ghost has slipped back into the shadows
-
I can honestly say that other than a lot of investigating and poring over error logs I have done nothing. The issue was something outside of my control - maybe the hosting company was playing around with something? I really don't know...
