Hi everyone,
I just want to say thank you to all of you who followed me through the adventure of doing major repairs on the R65 that I had bought not knowing about the major flaws that hid inside the engine block.
Your advise and encouragement when I hit a variety of speed bumps helpted me keep going. It was the first time I embarked on something of that magnitude and thanks to your support I got out on the other side with a better bike.
The people on this forum rock!
After having rebuilt the cylinders, changed pistons, and done various other tasks to put her back in shape, I just sold her to a young gentleman that was buying his first motorbike and had a passion for boxers.
It felt good to send her off to someone who was clearly very excited about the bike and that seemed to appreciate the work I have put in.
It won't be my last R65 so I would love to stay close to the forum despite not actually having an R65 in my garage.
I currently have my eyes on an R75/5 1971...
Best regards,
Einar.

Beautiful work, I REALLY like the matching two-tone panniers!
Good luck on the next venture.

Good job on it. My first Beemer was an R60/5, about 40 years ago, and although it was smooth I don't know if I could live with only a 4 speed box anymore!
