Just a head's up for any Airhead (or bratwurst) fans - we're putting on a little bike show and end-of-season cookout at the store this Saturday. We are hoping to get a pretty good representation of the Airhead evolution from 1970-onward. From the /5's through the mighty (and often maligned) RT Super Tourer. And we need some R65 representation!
Plus, it's Oktober, so we'll be serving up bratwurst and cold beers to wash it down with. Prime time will be 12-3pm, Saturday, 10/22. This is a free event for our good past and future customers. And - we are still looking to fill a few holes. If you have an *original condition* Airhead, please consider showing it.

Union Garage & Moto Borgotaro are proud to present a BMW Airhead Retrospective, honoring the original air-cooled bikes to come out of Bayerische Motoren Werks. With so many great custom motorcycle shows happening around the country, spawning a builder-culture that is fast chopping and bobbing these old bikes out of existence, the spirit of the original designs sometimes get lost.
We’re looking to celebrate these bikes in all their factory-correct originality. From the outlier models like the R65LS, to the iconic G/S early adventure bikes, and groundbreaking sport-oriented R90S, BMW Airheads have always been enduring testaments to simplicity and functionality. Airheads never claimed to be the fastest or lightest or most powerful. Yet, we love the goofy old girls.
We are currently still filling some holes in our lineup, and are looking for as-original-as-possible examples of several specific models, from /5 series through R100S, R100CS, a nice Bumblebee R100GS. If you have an original airhead and would like to submit it for inclusion, please do email details to Chris@UnionGarageNYC.com.
All participating bike owners will be compensated with a $50 gift card, a shop t-shirt of their choice, all the bratwurst they can eat and our sincere and everlasting gratitude. Plus, a professional studio photograph of their bike as a keepsake.
