Hey all,
My name is Nick.
It's finally time for me to start work on my poor old shed queen R65. I have my own garage and will be able to get the bike 'home' from my Dad's shed soon ( I still have to put up a dividing wall to make the it lockable)
I was a member here some years back when the bike first went into hibernation with a crook gearbox. Since it has sat so long I will be stripping the bike down and doing a restoration. I won't be modding except for simple jobs that improve reliability and I definitely won't be building a 'cafe' bike.
I'm sure there will be many questions and a few photos as I go along.
It's going to be fun.

Nick,
I am new to the forum as well and have been working on my bike for the last two months. I am hoping to have it finished in the next two weeks. I have gone through and overhauled a lot of items on the bike and restored most components. I'm moving to the front of the bike very soon.
Cheers
Dino

Nice job Raven, it's going to look good when finished. [smiley=thumbup.gif]

Welcome home, Nick.
Do you plan on cracking thr transmission yourself?
Keep us posted on the bike's progress.
-
Looks great Raven, hope mine is as clean when it's done!
Thanks Monty - I will be going through the box myself. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a bearing depth plate and the extractor for the output shaft flange.
It is a bit daunting but i'm fairly sure I can get it back together without any bits left over. :D
I will start a rebuild thread to document the insanity as it gets going. At the moment I'm saving my Pesos and reading the manual.

Nick,
What year model is your bike? I will be keen to see your thread on the transmission tear down. There is a circlip issue from late 1984 on, that can cause problems. Pulling a transmission apart is uncharted waters for me, well done at having a go!
Cheers

Yeah, I had read about the circlip- mine is an 84, just not sure if it's early or late. Guess I'll find out once it's open. If it is the dreaded missing circlip I might just need to find a replacement box. Or a parts bike maybe? Guess we'll see what I can afford when I get there.

Transmission is pretty easy as long as you can read a depth mic and are careful. After rearranging all of the shims that came out I would up having to order two. Don'tr forget to put a gasket between the plate and tranny.
