I purchased a 1986 R65 late last fall and it went straight into the garage. Have always been a fan of BMW motorcycles and after 30 years since I last owned a motorcycle, figured this one would be a great way to get back into it. Looking forward to learning to ride again when spring finally arrives here.

Welcome, secret agent Wxb. Your de-coder ring is on its way!
There are a few mono-shock R65s 'round here. Other than the rear suspension, everything else is much like the twin shockers.
When the thaw comes, roll out your bike and shoot a couple snaps. We always enjoy seeing what are members are riding.

Welcome from Ontario which is waiting now as well for slightly warmer temperatures but we are so close! The batteries need to go back into the bikes today just to keep me sane if nothing else!!
You are going to enjoy that bike soooo much. Great model to "get back into it" but also to stay in it as we age and get weaker and leave the speeding to others. It also makes a grand touring bike if you don't need or want to push it or your body to long long days in the saddle. A good workday of 8 hours is fine though. Have fun in your beautiful part of the USA!

Welcome, Wxb. I just took my R65 out for its first ride of the season on Sunday. Out through Gorham and back through Windham. It took three of us to push it through the snowbank on the North side of the house. I also took a 30 year hiatus from riding and am now loving it again. Lets go for a ride sometime.
Are you going to the BMWRSM Downeast Rally?
