G'day all, Thanks for letting me in.
It has been a long time coming for me to get a bike.
But my first bike had to be a BMW, the old man had an R50 so its his forte.
My name is Kev, I'm form Lakes Entrance, Victoria, Australia.
My BMW is an 84 R65, I got it form the 2ed owner who was the gran son of the 1st owner.
I have been doing a bit of work to it before i put it back on the road.
I can not wait until I'm riding down the road.
Cheers

G'day, Kev, and welcome to the asylum. If you've visited here a few times, you know we enjoy seeing photos of our member's Airheads. Hint

Welcome, Kev!
Always happy to have another R65 rider in the group!
I think we have a couple other forum members from your area on here somewhere - they will probably check in soon.
We're also rebuilding our "members map" - at the moment the closest person to you on the map is Graeme just south of Wollongong, but I know there are some other Aussies around here somewhere...

Hi guys, another newbie here. From western suburbs of Melbourne. Great to be onboard and involved with the live discussions on this fantastic machine.
Mines an 81. To be honest I know little about motorcycles though I do have a mechanical background. What I love so far is the simplicity of these bikes. Parts have been a little hard to source here in Oz but the overseas option is quick and faarrrr cheaper.
I am gonna need to ask for some advise but I thought I would get the intro out of the way.
Nice to be involved.
Happy ridding

Hi AHR & Welcome from Greenwell Point NSW

Hi Kev, Andrew and all you fellow airheaders, I'm another newbie, in Christchurch, New Zealand. I've owned my '85 R65 since Jan this year, first real road bike I've had. Love it.
I look forward to joining in on some discussions, which will no doubt be me asking for advice for a start, hopefully one day I'll be able to help someone else!

Cool! The Krauser "Starlet" bags are a perfect fit on an R65. We have a set on one of ours...
-
Thanks Justin, yeah the Krauser bags fit well and don't add much width which is nice.
-

Lou, suggest you seek professional help.
He'll be alright. It's a common side effect of driving on the wrong side of the road ;D

I am clearly not the first Australian to turn up here !
I have just registered and look forward to learning a little more about the R65.I intend to own one before too long.
To be honest I have been "planning" to own one for about 40 years since I was living and working in Germany. My flatmatein Cologne had an airhead (R60) and it was a fantastic beast. I have been a bit slow getting around to owning one, but it will happen !! :)
