Title: R65LS to 1980 R65 question...
Post by: Semper Gumby on July 26, 2008, 05:38:10 PM
Hi Guys (and especially Justin!)

Does anybody know if a R65LS rear wheel will fit onto my round style 03/1980 rear end?  Has anybody done this.  I really need to know ...  quickly.

Thanks in advance.

It should fit, the final drive is the same on the LS version, as it is on the non-LS bikes.

The width and diameter are the same as the snowflake rims.

The brake drum diameter is larger on the LS rims, requiring different brake shoes.

The only notes I can find on RealOEM.com, are about different brake drum sizes for the '80 model year bike final drive.

Yeah but...that was for the square type 9/1980 rear drive....Hurrumph.  I know its a 2.50 X18" but what about the final drive cog....I need to find a LS rear wheel and try it on my final drive.
