Hello All, Big Bamboo here, I bought a 1984 R65 recently, a real crusty Puna barn find, and am in the process of converting it to an off road motard. Your own Rob Valdez referred me to this forum when he saw I have a few extra parts for sale on another forum. Hopefully in the next few days I will be able to post more so the forum will let me post a pic. Thanks, Timo

Welcome, Timo. Glad you found us and all things R65.
You might consider starting your own thread as piggy-backing on someone else's can lead to some serious confusion with responses.
We have a saying here in the asylum... No photo of the bike? Then it doesn't exist.
We like photos! ;D

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Apparently I have to post more than twice before I can attach photos. Is that what the "insert media" icon is for? You like pictures? I have LOTS of pictures... ::)

BambooBoy... Spot the QUOTE button at top right? That's what you're looking for. By punching 'Quote' it'll open a reply window for you. You can also trim any irrelevant bits from the post if you desire. Then post your response to the quote.
To post photos, you'll need to upload your snaps to a web-based site. I like Photobucket 'cause it free. From your album photo in Photobucket, click on 'image' and then copy/paste into your R65dotorg thread.
Yes, a bit busy. Some folks, I think, may be able to post from their fancy pants cell phones. I'm still working with two tin cans and a string.

OK, got it! Two cans and a string, eh? That's FANCY... I'm still banging two coconuts together! ;D ...and the required photo of my $300 barn find. It Runs! Hawaii sure has a moist atmosphere. And plenty of salt.
Hope you like polishing.
And I thought we had it bad in the UK ;)

An R65 that runs for $300 bucks is a find no matter what it looks like. 'Hoomaikai ana, lelo hoomaikai! I will be interested to see how you go about turning it into a trail bike. I would love to do the same some day if I can find the right bike.
-
Nice find, Timo. Yes please document how you fix it up for off-road. I think we even have a sub forum for following projects like that.
-
Finally, one that looks a bit more rough than my Junk Yard Dawg started out...
Have fun!

Look in similar condition to the one I bought for £200 that had been stood outside in London for at least 7 years.
Welcome on board - and good luck. Can't wait to see her brought back to life!

Crusty indeed! But if you try to look at $300 bills and the bike and squint your eyes, the crust disappears ;)
Welcome Big Bamboo!
