Hello to everyone. I have read a lot of what ya'll have to offer and am glad I found your forum. I do not currently have any pictures of my bike, but it is an 81 R65. I am the second owner and the bike is very clean, I will get some pics up soon. I may upset some of you because I am researching all the necessary parts to cafe the bike. I just really like the way the airheads look with the cafe mods, sorry in advance.
I have a question about velocity stacks on a bing carb but I will post over in the tech section.
Happy to be a part of the community and look forward to riding with some of you, I hope.

Many of us do appreciate Café Racer and Bobber type thingies.
But be sure you are not just putting some Euro bars on and removing the pannier frames! [smiley=rolleyes.gif]
Its an all or nothing thing. However, as you say, all the airheads lend themselves to this sort of thing.
I am a fan of the stripped down look myself and had a Café Racer, that was then converted back to a street/scrambler/bobber sort of bike. I.e. I changed the seat, removed the clip-ons and rear sets and put some 'Renthals' on. Its not quit as simple as it looks.
My bike is now owned by my brother, who is now refreshing it and putting his mark on it. Its in the project section.
Welcome and good luck.

Welcome! I'm a fan of the airheads in stock form, but it's your bike. Personally, I hope any mods you make are reversible... tastes change.
But if your cafe transformation requires new mufflers I'll be interested in your stockers! [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif] ;)

I have attached some photos. The bike is currently being given a new bean can and icu, alpha from rick, so the pics are not of a full bike. I may not be an iron man rider, but I turn my own wrenches.
Reason for the new parts is my beloved left me stranded about a month ago, which was the cause of my seeking all of you out (serendipity i suppose) in the first place, and I deduced it must be the hall effect or icu to blame. And yes, before anyone asks, the heat sink paste was fresh. I did it myself a year or so ago. When I cracked open the front cover I found a plastic wiring harness in shambles and when I opened up the bean can I found more rust than a Ford in Michigan. It is for sale if anyone rehabs old bean cans that have become addicted to rust.
I can take another pic when I have everything back together and clean, my poor bike lives in a poor mans wood shop (wood- my first love but don't tell the wife) and is usually got some sawdust on her.
Hope ya'll like it and I look forward to more R65 discussions.
PS My daily driver is a 325i which caused my love affair with BMW and I hope to never own another brand.

Sure we do and don't call us Texicans and Sons O' the South "Yanks". ;D
OZ = Down Under... where the water in your toilet swirls the wrong way and bikes are hung from the ceilings.
We get it -although I did have to turn my compuKer upside down to view the snaps.

Sorry my friend from big country, Texas, but although I don't live in the southern hemisphere and do live in Dixie land I am a yank out of water. Thanks for not giving me to much grief about the upside down pics. I have trouble with the wife's I-pad, mostly that I am not supposed to be using it. Don't tell :-X

hahaha, upside down eh. Well I am terribly uninformed because no matter which way I hold the darn thing the screen flips so it looks right side up to me. I got it right on the saddled cases I have for sale. I will take half credit, maybe a C+ for my effort.
