Title: New Member in SoCal!
Post by: luckyd20 on July 09, 2012, 02:56:10 PM
Just wanted to say hi to everyone! I bought a '79 R65 a few months back. Love the bike. I plan to turn it into a cafe racer. Right now I am planning to tear the bike apart so I can repaint the frame along with replacing the oil pan gasket along with the push rod grommets. The bike looks simple enough to take apart and put back together. It'll be my first real project :D.

Welcome luckyd20, at least from your pictures, you've got a great looking bike !!!!!

These bikes are quite user friendly for disassembly and reassembly .

If you get to a point and don't know what to do, stop and post questions/pictures here, you'll usually get some replies in a few hours or so .

Welcome aboard, lucky. Have fun with your '79.

Please, with your next photo posting, scale your images to no more than 800 pixies for the greatest dimension. They will fit the forum pages much better and eliminate our having to scroll left n' right to enjoy your snaps. Add'l photo info in the FAQs section.

No problem! Exercised my wrist moving right! Looks like it should be a fun project. I see you have a turn-buckle gear shift rod already. That's a good thing BTW! ;) Welcome!!
