I just became the proud owner of the PILE. my first beemer. this bike showed up in the driveway of my neighbor in a pile of boxes. I watched and commented for a year as he sorted all the parts. then the process of assembling. then he tore it down and sent parts to be painted, then reassembly . he rode it all summer then sold it to me. Its a 79 r65 with an 83 r65ls engine. Now the tinkering begins. :o

Hey! & Welcome. That fairing looks as though it a standard part of the Bike. :)

Welcome Dan, nice looking 'pile'o parts' !!!!
I'm not the most knowledgeable person about posting pictures, but I use pictures from photobucket, and the 460x460 (or there abouts) seems to work pretty good here for images .

Glad to have you with us, Dan. Looks "dampish" in your neighborhood. Rain much? ::)

Another water cooled R65. That's a pretty area though.

Welcome. After a good rain the R65 will collect water between the head and the valve cover. It boils off after running. The first time you hear it after shutdown you gonna think your going krazo.... ::)

Very topical Bill as I just came in a few minutes ago from washing my bike. I always suck the rinse water out of that cavity with a syringe. There are two cavities that hold a few CC's of water. The one between the valve cover and cylinder head and the one next to it in the cylinder head it's self.
The other area I remove water from is the Allen key hole in the final drive filler plug and at the bottom of the machined spark plug recess. Stops 'em going rusty.
