I am employed! I start Tuesday!
I am doing the "same old thing" which translates into maximum dollars per hour, so that also means god-awful hours, but after tasting 4 months of unemployment, I'm not so picky.
I will be a computer operator for a company that manufactures credit/debit/insurance cards of the embossed type.
My hours will be W-Sun, 8pm-4am.
I can now afford to put the R65 back together (again...).
Woo-hoo!

Great news Rob !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a 14 month period of unemployment from 11/91-01/93, not a great feeling at all .
I remember telling my grandmother on my fathers side, the last time I saw her in 8/84, that I wish I had a summer off to ride my motorcycle .
Her comment was, be careful what you wish for, you may just get it and it may not be what you envisioned it to be !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or said another way–
The two greatest tragedies in life are: Never Getting what you wished for and. . . Getting It.
Monte... wishing for a trials bike :)

That is great news, Rob!
I think that this year is definitely going to be a better year than 2011 - I hope so, at least! Yesterday morning, I watched a bald eagle circle the water (ice, really) by our beach and land in a tall pine tree in front of our house. We've had lots of birds at our place, but NEVER a bald eagle before! I'm taking this as a good omen for the year.
So happy for your good news - perhaps we'll see you in Missouri this year..

Thanks again everyone.
Today was orientation and the first day of sitting around.
I will actually have MY OWN desk! And it won't be in "refrigerator heaven", either.
Every other job I have worked has taken place at the operator's work station in the computer room.
This is just in a little office with servers in a room down the hall that I will likely never see.
-
I'm glad that I left the dreaded raised floor, refrigerator room full of big iron decades ago... man, now I am feeling old!
Enjoy your civilized office space!!

Great news Rob well done !!!
10 years back I had a 2 1/2 years of relative unemployment. Well I was supposedly self employed but it hardly paid well enough to justify being called employment. Also got a start at this exact time of year and have never looked back. Put it down to another one of lifes experiences. Not good but not all bad either.
-
Congratulations Rob! Will they let you work on your bike at your desk?
:^)

That is just terrific Rob! Way to go and congratulations! Office too! Sometimes it just takes time and having the stars finally align to provide the opportunity one deserves.
Reading all the posts over the past months made it quite evident that you have many folks who have been hoping and praying for your success. Great way to start the new year. :)
I am also delighted that you remain our go-to guy on the Forum! :D
Hooray!

YEA!!! Always like getting good news...seems like 2011 wasn’t the best year for lots of folks. My son in law the architect got laid off from a company he put 11 years into. He struggle to get a company of his own off the ground...was doing ok...but then got a offer he couldn’t refuse. He had mixed feeling about giving up his own company. I think the economy is finally picking up...now if the dumb shits in Washington can quit playing chicken and scaring everyone. Anyway I am glad for ya. Thanks for sharing.....this kind of news is like a rain in the middle of a drought...makes ever body feel better.

Congrats ROB!

Congrats Rob! I finally decided to check on the forum after being gone for quite awhile. I knew from facebook that you had found employment, but I'm glad to read the specifics here. Good job! ;D
