Title: Sources for "tracer" wire

If you desire to keep your Airhead as authentic as possible during electrical wiring repair or resto work, you may have discovered, as did I, that it's difficult to find the various wire colors with the correct "tracer" color.

Here's two resources I've dug up; one in the USofA and the other in England:

In the Colonies, try Rhode Island Wiring Service (click on Supplies)

In Jolly Ol', ring up Auto Electric Supplies

And AES, even with Royal Air Mail delivery to Texas, was less cost than the same material from R.I. Wiring plus in-country shipping. Go figure. :-/  

Anyone have other sources bookmarked?

Here in UK Vehicle Wiring Products carry just about every colour in both principal and tracer, mostly in the 16.5 amp (1 sq. mm.) size, thinwall. Also in the older single core PVC type, but a smaller selection. Other cross sections too. They will sell from 1 meter length up. sales@vehicleproducts.co.uk. I believe they don't export to the US for some reason, but if desperate PM me, I can help for small amounts by mail.

Great find on the UK site.  Here's a few you may want to add to your folder not only for wiring but connectors, etc.  OEM BMW solid & tracer wiring has always been a tough find.  Often thought about motorcycle salvage yards to strip old wiring from disturbed harnesses.

Just to make it clear: in the long list of colours in the VWP cat, the first one listed is the principal, the second is the tracer. Plenty of combinations can be had either way!

Visit wrecking yards and rip wiring out of trashed Mercedes,etc.
