I see by the membership count we are at 999. Who's going to be number 1,000?
-
Wonder how many actual and active members we might have?

Now that is just amazing! Just think of all the locations on earth now that we can visit and just maybe get a fine welcome and a wee place to rest!!!
The 1000th member should get a big welcome....no prizes like those ads that seem to pop-up up lately on this site lately...Walmart for one!

Sue, check your "Block Pop Up Windows" -that's what it's called on my Mac, and turn 'em off. I had that problemo also and it was a simple way to tell 'em adios.

I have yet to see my first pop-up on this forum. Is it because I use Firefox? (on a PC)
-
I never saw one either, and I also use Firefox.

I haven't had any issue with this site with pop-ups or spam, since September 2006, when we were spammed back to the stone age !!!
I went through our membership about a year ago when I had nothing to do a work one day, I came up with at best 35% active members .
My criteria, was logging on and making a posting within the last 6 months .
If you tightened up the requirement to 90 days, it dropped to the low to mid 20 percent range .

I once did a little research on a Danish forum and one of the results that came up was that there is a core of less than ten very active members keeping a forum alive. Around these ten there are 20-30 members who regularily post on the forum.
I imagine any forum of interest as a set of concentric circles with a very small core, a couple of rather narrow bands, and an outer band fading away in the distance. The criterium forming the bands is of course the activity of the members, and Bob's findings correspond with mine.
I haven't done any statistics on this forum yet but I am tempted to do so.
greetings from a windy and sunny north

Doubt if that would be enough to pay off Bengt Phorqs' Shiner Beer tab at the licker store.

...and it may not be when you have friends that come over and slurp up all the Shiner in the coolerator and ignore the signature training beer that was purchased just for them!! [smiley=beerchug.gif] [smiley=beerchug.gif]
Welcome to the club JP, or have we already said that? ;D

Welcome aboard. I didn't know if we would ever recover and hit this milestone but it feels really good!
