Hey everyone. I sold the Frank ' n ' beemer today. I was sad to see it go. Maybe the worst part is leaving this wonderful forum. I'll stop in every now and then to see what everyone is up to, but it won't be the nearly daily check in of the past few months.
This really is the best forum I've ever been active on. So many smart folks who share freely all they know, without all the attitude that's usually present on motorcycle forums.. I would have been lost without y'all.
Anyway, thanks again. - I-man

Sorry to see you go !
Not to pry into your personal life, but you had a dilemma not too long ago, about insurance, was this the decision you made about it ?
-
that wasn't it. I haven't gotten the insurance yet, but I have a good lead, and I think that's going to work out. I feel a little sheepish saying so, but I had a chance to get my dream bike ( yamaha SR500 ) so...... not every day you get a chance to pick up your dream bike! esp. one that is as perfect and original as this one. But it meant I had to part ways with the frank' n ' beemer.
I really was sad seeing the R65 ride away. It was the best looking bike I ever owned and was very fun to ride when it was running well, which was most of the time. And seriously, this forum has been so great. i hope the sr500 forum is half as good. I hope I'm welcome to come around from time to time and even post occasionally.

The SR500 is a great looking bike, the person that got me interested in motorcycles about 32 years ago, had one .
Can't remember if any of them had an electric starter or not, the only ones I've seen were kick start only with a compression release lever on the handlebar .

Hasta la vista, amigo. Vaya con Dios. el Monte
-
I'll come around from time to time just for the Monte show!
yes all sr500's are kick only. It's really not bad, once you know the drill. Of course I'll change my tune when I stall in traffic and have to kick it over with a line of cars laying on their horns.

That looks like a real nice bike!
And very original, unlike your R65.
-
very original indeed. the handle bars have been changed (I have the originals) and the exhaust (I have the original of that as well, but I'm glad it was changed-it's the heaviest muffler ever. ) but past that it is nearly museum clean and very fun to ride. It's not as smooth as the r65. but I knew that going in.
