Hi, my name is JD and im from sydney australia. i have a 1985 r65 twin shock which i have owned for about 1 and a bit years which i have nursed back into health. Its not the best example around but she gets the job done!
Looking forward to reading about other owners bikes and reading some tips on tech!
Sump cover needs new gasket, as you can see by the oil patch under the bike! how embarassing!
Peace.

Welcome! I think you'll find this to be a friendly, fun group that has a huge store of knowledge about your bike. (Present company excluded for lack of experience and expertise.)
We're experiencing a growing number of riders joining our group from Down Under. It has been our pleasure to have you belong. As time goes by, I suspect you'll get to know most, if not all, of your fellow countrymen.
Again, welcome and enjoy!
Cheers,
John
p.s. don't worry about the spots on the floor. Just the R65 marking its territory. (Old VW boxers do the same thing.) JT

Welcome JayDee! Nice looking bike you got there. Lots of friendly folks here and some on your side of the world, too!

Welcome to the asylum, JD. As you may already know, there are quite a few of your countrymen around here. Make yourself at home.
Had to chuckle seeing your R65 parked on the handicap icon. Social commentary? ;)
The grab bar on the aft end of your bike's seat also caught my eye. It looks nice. Sorta retro BMW.
Cheers, Mate... See. Us Texicans can sorta talk Aussie. Monte

We seem to be swamped by Aussies!!! Welcome to the nut-house...
-
Welcome aboard !
It seems we can never have too many Australians here!
Texans, on the other hand, seem to start sniping at each other once there are more than 2 of them in a thread...
;) ;D
At least we all like barbeque and beer !

No, it's not really sniping at each other at all. It's really a culturally perverted sign of respect for each other. I know, it doesn't make sense but that's just how we do things. Sorry if we give the wrong impression. [smiley=3stooges.gif]

Welcome JayDee, I'm new to this forum too, I think you will get a lot of good support from the inmates ;D, I know I have. Your bike looks real nice. By the way can you Aussies ride year round way down under? Here in Maine we may have six or seven Months >:(.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news Dave 2, us Aussies can ride alllll year round :), but there are few places in winter where it snows etc....so around, i'll say roughly 95% of Aussie is rider friendly all year round 8-)

depends on how much of a fair weather rider you are.
Here in Darwin I'd ride all year round.
However during the wet season (we don't have a summer, winter, etc) we get monsoon rains and vision can be a bit low. You also get drenched no matter how much rain gear youre wearing.
I have friends whose bike won't see daylight if there are dark clouds around.
Maybe they're the sane ones.

Well, Monte's special...
Ah, confirmation of what many have suspected !
I think that many of us around the world have similar types of "cultural bonding" activities involving mutual abuse, but for some reason you folks in Texas seem to be darn entertaining with it.. Then again, I really liked the 3 stooges and the Marx brothers s a kid.
:D

Hey, I like that silver R65 color, too. Almost bought one a few years back, but ended up with a gray R100RT instead. My black R65 came later. Still got the RT though....Welcome! :)

Sweet looking R65! You don't see many silver R65s around, except for the occasional LS. I give it a hearty thumbs up! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
