Here's the deal with the "Donate" button. This basically trasnfers control to PayPal's web site. Enter the amount you wish to donate, press the "Update Total" button, and finish the transaction. I agree that PayPal leaves you in sort of a bleak state but when finished click on the "Return to your PayPal Overview (or something like that) button and you can then properly log out from there. Unfortunately you will need to manually go back to the forum.
Somebody owes me a dollar...

Couldn't they do a "right-click/open in a new window"?
-
It's a frame or form of some kind. I'm gonna poke around PayPals site to see what else might be available...
-
Clicked button. Took me to paypal page that says this page doesn't work. Go back but don't use back button ? Tried it three time. Same message each time !
Went to my paypal directly ... everything seem OK
-
That's interesting! Maybe due to the change in domain/URL to bmwr65.org. I'll check it out...
-
They might have been having a glitch or something. I just tried it and it took me to a page to enter amount then you click the update button. You then press the other button which should take you into your PayPal account where you complete the transaction. At that point you need to select to return to your account where you can then log out.
Unfortunately you'll need to manually return to the forum by either re-entering the URL or (on Mozilla/SeaMonkey) the little down arrow next to the back button and then select the top forum line from the drop-down box.

Justin, Any way of displaying a running total of the donations so far?
I'd hope that we can really make the forum pay for itself.
Appreciate all the effort ya'll have put into it.

If it's difficult to donate, I'm thinking people won't. Couldn't we just shove a few bucks in an envelope and mail it to Justin?

I just clicked on it. It took me right to the page.
-
I didn't have any trouble donating earlier this week.
-
I did - but finally it went through - though the PayPal account didn't let me log out properly >:(
-
Sorry Justin, this is really a stupid question - but I do need some help.
I do have an account with Paypal, but I've only used it once - about three years ago.
When I do hit the "Donate" button, I seem to need an (beneficiary) e.mail address to enter on the first page - without entering an address I simply fail to continue the donating process. Do I need to enter any other details as well ? :-[
Thanks

Danie,
Do you not go to a page that looks like this?
-
All this Paypal talk is interesting...I use a paypal button on Motomark1's website and it takes the visitor back to the Motomark1 website - to a page I designate... Wonder if it's a difference in the type of account? You also don't have to log on to pay or even have a paypal account. We have more fees that way, though. We're only charged when someone buys, though.
-
I think these buttons might have more options if you have a "Merchant" account.
-
Justin, when I hit the "Donate" button at the top of this website, I do get access to a complete different page - it seem to be an official page of Paypal itself.
I tried to use your attached page to make a donation as well - without success - only half of the attached page appears on my screen, and it is not possible to drag the page from right to left ,to enter all information.
-
I just posted a screen-capture of the page that I go to when I click the donate button, it is not a link. I'm not sure what is happening in your case. You should be able to send a donation to r65@suraklyn.com directly from your PayPal account.
-
Thanks - I've just entered the Suraklyn e.mail adress, and I received a message that the payment was sucsessful. Unfortunately I did not enter any mesage or details - so you might find a "little drop in the ocean" - not knowing where it's coming from.
Could you perhaps let us know whether you do need more donations to cover all costs ?
Regards
Danie
