I'm so excited folks. I'm finishing my safety course tomorrow. My husband leaves for Colorado fow two weeks on Monday, and has said I can ride his bike as much as I want (I don't actually pick mine up until he gets back). He's actually made me promise that I'll go riding so we can do a few short rides when he gets back. Hopefully I'll have my license by then!
Anyone considering taking a safety course--DO IT. I have so much more confidence and feel so much more in control.

You go Girl! ;D Congrats on finishing up and feeling that confidence. I agree about taking a course, or two, or three for that matter. I think staying up on your skills is a must. These courses keep you thinking, practicing and breaking bad habits.
Be careful out there on your own and have fun when your hubby gets back in town!

Training is the best accessory one can get for their motorcycle, IMHO.
Gear is next.

Congrats! Stick to your neighborhood residential streets and large parking lots in the beginning. I remember we spent a lot of time at the park and HS parking lot when Barbara was learning. Then cruising the 'hood...

Congratulations! and welcome to the fold. You were smart to go for the training. You'll probably continue to be smart by wearing all the gear all the time while honing your new found skills so that they become second nature. Now as you head out solo you can mitigate your risk by thoughtfully choosing your time and place to ride. Rush hour into the sun rising on the horizon at a 5 way intersection might not be good but parking lots are behind you now! Where's yer bike?

I am so behind you..you go girl!!! I do parking lots quite a bit to get those slow speed turns better. Have a great time and remember a little bit of nervousness at the start of every ride is a good thing and is a built-in safety feature as it gets you to be alert...especially in the all-too-familiar home neighbourhood where they say we can get lackidasial. Learning is part of riding forever..... learn from Rob, Steve and me. Different circumstances for our mishaps but there is something to glean from each one..even Steve Hawkins who wasn't to blame! It was a cager that got him!

Way to go! I sort of did mine after I came off my bike many years ago....you live, you learn - a bit of a painful lesson, but better late than never. I'm glad that you are getting the sequence the correct way around!
Best of British to you. Keep us posted of how you're going.

Good for you! Does the term "Rider Radar" sound familiar? One term that I always tell my MSF students to never ever forget.

Alright! [smiley=thumbsup.gif] Good for you!
And it looks like you'll finish just in time as the rains are acoming. Well, today is Saturday and here it's been pouring all day. A little rain never hurt anyone in the training course though.
The one thing I found out about taking the rider course though is that it is just the beginning of a life time of learning. And what more fun could you have doing it? ;D
It's been 5 years since I took the beginner course. I guess it's time for me to take the next level of training. :)
