Title: Champagne owners!

This is about the most comprehensive site for BMW colors, but I don't see anything to answer your question.
http://bmbikes.co.uk/schemepages/schemer45.htm

The pictures of the R45 on that page, while it may not be Champagne, it looks like the stripe is black, or a very dark color.

Gus, You're still alive!    :D

Good to hear from you.  Make it back OK from the Gathering?

Lou, PM Semper Gumby & find out what color his is.

Best,

Ed 8-)

Ive desided to go the whole hog (no pun intended not buying a harley) ive had the frame blasted and just got it back from the paint shop, will probebley leave the tank ect bronco for now but intend to change it to champagne /gold whatever takes my fancy in the winter when i have more time if you look at alot of the car colors late 70,s early 80,s some of them are pretty close to the bm color and still availiable in touch up sticks good luck

Gus,  if you have your paint code (should be under the seat somewhere - or check Rob's link to get it) you should be able to go to any glasurit paint dealer, give them the BMW paint code and they can match it right up.

I've always been a fan of a classic off white for 'older' bike restoration.  Esp BMW.  Looks great with the blue/white emblems.    Just a suggestion.

That is an extremely beautiful bike!    Great representative of the breed.

I'll never understand why the streamlined tank and valve covers of the R65 were not the norm.  These bikes just grow old so damn gracefully.   I've had a few people ask me if my bike is a new model!

I just bought a 1980 R65 today! It's grey with red striping. Original paint. Looks good but I've always been partial to the Orange colors. Oh well, I still like the bike! I'm beginning to think bikes are like boats. I've got 3 things to fix before I start riding it! ::)

Cool!  And you already know the breed's nickname.  ;D

I can thank my wife for that. She wants to re live her college days in Germany on the back of a "Rubber Cow". Trouble is, I wasn't there so I wonder who's Cow she was riding on?
This has me worried as well: Quote:

1980:
Detuning (leaned) carburetion changes for emissions, with no other changes to make up for it, resulting in a slight performance loss. BMW RA calls the 1980 R65 "the worst BMW ever made."

Of course I just got an "80 :-/

Don't feel lonesome, I have one out in the garage as well.  It survived Suraklyn learning to ride so I s'pose they can't be too bad...
