Title: R65 colors
Post by: Lucky_Lou on September 17, 2008, 02:50:43 PM: Ive just rescued a 1980 r 65 for restoration i believe they were imported to the USA in "bronco brown" and "champange?" mine is bronco any one seen or got any images of the champagne color

The pictures of the R45 on that page, while it may not be Champagne, it looks like the stripe is black, or a very dark color.

Ive desided to go the whole hog (no pun intended not buying a harley) ive had the frame blasted and just got it back from the paint shop, will probebley leave the tank ect bronco for now but intend to change it to champagne /gold whatever takes my fancy in the winter when i have more time if you look at alot of the car colors late 70,s early 80,s some of them are pretty close to the bm color and still availiable in touch up sticks good luck

Gus, if you have your paint code (should be under the seat somewhere - or check Rob's link to get it) you should be able to go to any glasurit paint dealer, give them the BMW paint code and they can match it right up.

I'll never understand why the streamlined tank and valve covers of the R65 were not the norm. These bikes just grow old so damn gracefully. I've had a few people ask me if my bike is a new model!

Oh well, I still like the bike! I'm beginning to think bikes are like boats. I've got 3 things to fix before I start riding it! ::)
