Hello all,
I found this forum while searching for info about the R65 and I have to introduce myself, so let's go.
In the early 80's I started to get more and more interested in motorcycles. The first few mags I bought had road tests in it. One from a R45 and one from the R65LS but with a mildly tuned R80 engine in it. I liked the looks of those 'machines for old guys' better than most of the japanese bikes back then.
Turned 18 in '85, bought a new Suzuki GSX400E (the twin with 4 valves/cilinder) and rode that until 2001. Lack of money (back to school, kids, woman) prevented another motorcycle, but at least I never sold it. I still have it by the way.
Bought an old Kawasaki GT550 in 2001, rode it 2 years and then bought a R1150GS. I really liked that, but after a few years I found myself wanting a smaller and less powerfull bike. So about 2 months back I sold the R1150, found a K75S and a R65 and still have money to buy my wife (then girlfriend by the way, we got married the 1st of July) a Honda 500 shadow.
The R65 is from '82. 110000km's (70000 miles?) so I guess it's broken in allready.
Me and the blue bike:

So here I am, three old bikes instead of the rock solid GS but I'm having more fun on two wheels then ever :)
Tomorrow the wife and I will go on a short weekend trip on the K. Next week, we'll go camping with the kids and that trip will be on te R65 and the Shadow.

Congrats on your wedding and finding a wife who will ride with you. My fiance rides my R65 which was my newest. There is nothing wrong with having more than one bike! Airheads are easy to work on but a spare bike can come in handy. Plus they are collectable!

Welcome to the group, Johns.
Nice looking bike. Must be great to have a girlfriend (now wife) that rides with you.
Where are you located?
Very best wishes.

I'm from the Netherlands. The northern part. Anyway, a 'spare bike' can come in handy indeed. As I mentioned, we went away for the weekeind and before we went back this morning I found some (a lot to be honest) coolant beneath the K.
Turned out to be a tube (to the expansion ehh thingy) which was probably 21 years old also, and K's are easy to work on. So we're back. Had a nice trip through one of te nicest parts of this country (Veluwe) and the second nicest (Weerribben) :)

My brother and his wife just returned from a trip to the Netherlands, among other locales. Evidently, the low country was his favorite since that's all he's talked about.
Welcome to the R65 family. Post often... we're all friendly fire around here.
