Title: Open Track Day near DFW

Tripped across an ad in our local rag about an Open Track Day for motorcycles at a new 2.5 mile road course near Slidell, Texas. Slidell? You mean you've never heard of the Slidell Greyhounds?

Cars may "track" -as the website calls it- on Sat 26 July and bikes on Sunday 27 July beginning at 0700 to 1500 hrs local. Spectators free. Expensive to ride: $175 to $195 depending on your skill level. Instructors will be participating.

Check out their website http://www.eaglescanyon.com for a taste of what's near the DFW area. And, yes, I know about the private track near Cresson, south of Cowtown.

I'm getting as many BMW riders in Denton as I can -all four of us- and see if we can't cruise up for the morning. It's plenty hot right now with 100 degrees the norm many days.

Funny thing is I drive within one-quarter mile of this track on the way to our homesite in Montague County and have never seen sign one for the joint! Of course, a quarter mile off the road is pretty far for my old eyes.

DFW folks, take note. Maybe see you there.

Try this link for a satellite view. At time of photo, appears only dirt scraped out track.

Scroll out far enough to find FM455 and Hwy 51. "Ride" south on Hwy 51 approx half a klick to the track.

That is pretty cool!

I don't know if that is where I was looking or not.  I think I have slept twice since then...
