All,
I have tried to impress on people that the majority of e-mail problems from the forum to their accounts is the fault of their mail service. The following (in red) is a good example of the mail suraklyn and myself get bombarded with. Whoever <name withheld>@hotmail.com is needs to get with hotmail and resolve this or I will have to manually search the user database for this e-mail address and I might be inclined to just delete the account to keep myself from getting "spammed". [smiley=evil.gif] I will try to contact them off list, then I will post the e-mail address on the forum if I don't get any response, then, well... You all can see that hotmail.com is rejecting an e-mail from this forum - no questions asked - because it thinks it's from a spammer. If it is rejecting mails to this person it is most likely rejecting them to others as well.
I don't want to come across as a hard-ass butt-head but as my "pool" of spare-time continues to shrink I don't have time to chase this stuff like I used to. There are also kick-backs because e-mail addresses are not good any more and I have deleted user accounts over this as I have no way of contacting them to let them know to fix the problem.
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
<name withheld>@hotmail.com
SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM:<justin.bowser@charter.net> SIZE=1681:
host mx2.hotmail.com [65.54.244.168]: 550 SC-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation problems. That is really strange, Justin. I wonder what the problem is.
I've been having something else happen. I used to get an e-mail when a Personal Message was sent to me. Now I just get them sporadically. I usually have to find out I have one when I sign in.
I wonder if these issues are related? Just a thought.

I've noticed nothing. Sorry Justin.

Well, the e-mail I tried to send to this member was kicked back by hotmail, as I thought it would be. If you are ijperes@hotmail.com, or know who this is let me know. The forum sends e-mails "masquerading" as me so it's likely some of these mail services look at any relayed mail as spam. My e-mail address needs to be added to the "approved" list, or whatever.
But, ijperes@hotmail.com needs to get this taken care of as I don't see much I can do other than delete the account.

i remember when i first tried to sign up, for what ever reason it would not let me use my hotmail account which i try to use for stuff like this and not my work address. once i was logged in i could change my address.
all you can say justin is you tried and gave fair warning.

Nobody owned up to belonging to that address but less than a day after my warning I quit getting failure notices. Case closed...
