I spent some time sanding my tank and really like to bare metal look. :) I did this in photoshop to see what it may look like if I painted the lower area of the tank. Opinions? :-? I can take it. :-X
Cool, thx Rob.

It looks like it could work!
If it were me, I would emulate the black portion of the LS tank, and not take the color up the front.

it's tough to protect bare metal; HD developed some new clear coats to go over bare metal. That said, why not? try just clear coat, see how it looks and lasts. Worst case, you sand and paint some more.

That looks cool. samc has a good idea with clearcoating. My buddy who rides a harley is gonna clearcoat his bike, but since he is always working on that thing I bet you can beat him to it!

the make a special clear coat to go over bare metal and it is pricey. the better thing to do is paint to lower like you want, let it dry and then wet sand it with some 800 so it will have some grip for a clear powder coat which will bond to the bare metal and last. the clear coat paint on the bare metal will flake off in very little time. i have tried just clearing over bare metal and and the powder coat, the powder coat is tough stuff

I really like the look! It did remind me of the LS.
