Title: Newbie Checking In

Just returned from picking up a 1979 R65. Its in great shape: 43k and everthing works except horn. Yes its painted yellow (volkswagon yellow) by previous owner. He owned it for 19 years. I am 3rd owner.

Anyway, found your group and signed up. Looking forward to a sharing info and getting advise on my R65.

Welcome aboard - we're all friendly here.  Curmudgeons don't seem to stick around,
or ride R65s !

Welcome Jim, nice looking paint job on the bike ! Nice to see other than OEM paint schemes on these bikes, that yellow and the fairing look great . Where on the face of planet do you call home ?

Forgot to mention in original post - I'm located in Cadillac, Michigan (northwestern part of lower peninsula). Any other R65's out there in Michigan?

I realized it when I started doing all of my shopping on line so I didn't have to put up with people at the store and changed careers so I didn't have to deal with boneheads on the phone anymore...
