Title: Tech-tip/FAQ, or whatever...
Post by: Justin B. on August 05, 2007, 08:30:17 PM
There have been several grumblings about the lack of a FAQ section or some formal way to post procedures and tech info other than just in the general Q&A section.  I can create another board under the technical section for FAQs and things could be posted there and set to be "read-only".  I don't have any interest in being a "tech-writer" but will gladly move requested items to this write-protected board for the author.

I would take it that these articles would be written as a "not for comment" document as to keep them from being all cluttered up with off-topic BS.  I'll create the board if there is enough interest.  Somebody (regular user) see if they can create a topic post and see if you have an option to make it a read-only post.  If not, the management can take care of that particular chore...

Geee, I hope I didn't come off as a grumbler. [smiley=huh.gif] I was corrected when you pointed out that there is a Tech Q & A heading (and it's search-able) but now that you mention it, articles written by members might be a good resource for us lazy folks. The excellent step by step sue did on her steering bearings strikes me as a candidate and I'm sure I'll think of others once I've had coffee.

Just as soon as this board was started there have been some lobbying for some sort of FAQ section.  If you liike, I'll create it and you can massage Sue's article into an FAQ and post it there to see if you can lock (write protect) it.  If not, let me know and I will lock it...

OK, it's done.  I set it up under the technical section and any registered user should be able to create something there but the permissions I have set should only allow moderators or the original poster to reply to the post.  Y'all have at it!
