Title: Don't forget "Ride to Work Day" on July 18th!
Post by: SCJJR65 on July 17, 2007, 04:25:02 PM
Just a reminder to all you two-wheeled commuters (and those of you riders who wish you were) that Wednesday, July 18th is the 16th annual National Ride to Work Day.  If you don't normally ride your cow to work, why not make tomorrow a day that you do?  For more info, go to: www.ridetowork.org

I don't have to work tomorrow, but I think that the fact that I have taken a cage to work 3 times since March 1 , 2005 , qualifies me for 'hardcore' commuter status.

Beautiful ride this morning, about 72 degrees when I left the house.  I was dreading this afternoon but it maxed out at about 92 degrees so the ride home was comfortable as well.  I think that's the first comfortable July ride I've ever had, and I'm not just trying to piss of Bob!  I'll look a little strange tomorrow with two weeks of dirty uniforms bungeed onto the back of the bike! ;-)

Justin, it was 100 F. at 7:15 am this morning . I got out to work on the R65 and the oilhead at 10 am, and worked until 5 pm. When I finally called it a day, it was 114 F in the garage. But I did manage to get a fair amount of work done on both bikes. I'm having a Moosehead lager slushee at the moment !

It rained the whole 40 miles or so to work (I didn't get to do my normal 50 mile commute.) but I found out my rain gear still works:  I still sweat in it.  What ever, it was my first opportunity this week to ride so I had to grab it.  I rode the R65 today, will probably ride the Triumph tomorrow.  R65 still giving me weird warm weather mid range rpm rough running problems that I don't even know how to describe.  If I find places I can go 80 (many on my back roads commute) it does OK.  Discouraging.

Hope we had a lot of "regulars" here who decided to ride to work (or school, or wherever) yesterday and make "Ride to Work Day" count!  To all of you who did, I raise my glass to you!   [smiley=beer.gif]

I rode, despite rain predicted at my typical departure time of midnight.  Not only did I get out of work early (10:30), but it did not rain until the wee hours of the morning!  Humid as all get-out, but a pleasant evenings' ride home...(on my birthday! [smiley=1drink.gif])

Still, though, Happy Happy... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

They picked Rob's birthday for Ride to Work day?  Somehow that seems appropriate!

Happy (now belated) birthday!

Hey Rob,  I have a great Birthday present for you, but you have to come to Willville to get it!  The FTF prize is still available!!  (I know it's already been found, but no one has taken the coupon yet...) I think it'd be great if YOU took it!

I'm not too proud to "admit" to being over 50.  Each year gives me more of an excuse to be cranky and put up with less crap from brain-dead morons!  ;D
