I'm wanting to give my machine a paint job. It's an 81 and is red, but considering a different colour, but want to keep with a factory colour. I remember reading a web page with all the stock colours, but have forgotten it. Can anyone help me out here? Cheers from wintry New Zealand! ;D

Try this out:

Paint the red bike black. ;D
-
Go with a classic:
Bronco Brown with orange pinstripe.
:)
Not a very accurate color on the stripe, but a nicely outfitted R45!

Hey Ed, I was drifting towards black as the the alternative to re-redding it! Perhaps you are my inner thoughts! Thinking of taking off the small bikini fairing for the naked bike look, a bit more classic perhaps. ;D

Diggers, there is really no reason to keep it a "factory" color unless you are going to enter it in those uppity shows where such attention to detail is required. It's your bike, you are the only one who has to like it so paint it any color you want!

All of the "uppity shows" I enter are in my head.
For me it has to be factory.
But that is just me! :D

As attached, any colour will look good compared to the state it's in at the moment! My elder, motorcyclist, brother has urged me to go "factory" too. Black is looking good! I even managed to fix my (excess) idle speed, thanks to the techies for their advice and instructions to a newbie!
Cheers ;D

Anyway there aren't enough R65s in New Zealand to hold any "uppity" shows here! Meeting up with fellow owners, talking shop and downing a few ales is more my style!
