Anyone have a reliable source for brake pads? I ordered from A&S and they sat on the order for three days. Won't get them in time for the Gathering of the Clans, and It appears that Hammersley does not have them in stock.
Any help appreciated,
Thanks!

I've been getting excellent service from Chicago BMW.
http://chicagobmwmotorcycle.com/store/.
Every item I've ordered has been in stock and shows up at my house in 3-5 days. All their prices are discounted. too.
Use the A&S parts fiche for part numbers and descriptions. Chicago BMW does not provide a parts fiche on their website.

If you do use Chicago, make sure they give you a ship date. If you want to get them in time for the Gathering rally, anyway.
You might also give Matt at Boxerworks a call. I don't know if he stocks them or not, but he is who I have bought mine from, in the past. He is also coming to the rally, and could deliver them to you there, if you wanted to mess with it at the rally.

My last order with Chicago BMW resulted in an e-mail several days later stating:
Your order has been updated to the following status.
New status: All Parts / Items Ordered
Of course, I ordered a bunch of exotic crap like r65 head gaskets and push-rod tube seals, and crap like that.
But, I'm used to them taking forever so I sort of plan for it.
Goat, don't overlook the aftermarket for pads, EBC and others make replacement pads so you don't necessarily have to stick with OEM. In fact, I was looking at a set of ATE pads from the rear brakes off a 1975 Mercedes that look like they would fit with just a bit of grinding... Pad material is way too thick and would need to have some work done on 'em with a belt sander, or milling machine. Hmmm, that has me thinking...

Chicago BMW might ship them by July 4th if you call them a dozen times. Cheap, yes: fast, nooooo way. Monte's experience is by far the exception to the rule!
What about Morton's up in Fredericksburg? Or, Carolina BMW down here in Greensboro: http://www.carolinaeuro.com/
I'd be happy to pick them up there and send Fedex it that'll help.
Still feel kinda bad about this, but worst case scenario the old ones should surely be good for the 200miles to the Gathering & back.
I honestly never noticed the front brakes were weak... :-[

I like EBC pads. I got mine from my local Tucker Rocky dealer. They had one set in stock and had to order the other set (dual disks). It only took a couple of days. Lots of internet sources as well.

There is a guy in one of the eBay stores that sells (buy it now) two sets of pads for $28! I'll bet you could have them in a week or so.

If you register for an "account" with Chicago BMW rather than phoning in your order (I've done both) you'll receive email confirmations of when your order shipped and if there are any back orders. So far, all my orders have been filled completely.
My last order was placed on-line, Saturday 31 May. On Monday, 02 June, I received an email that my order was sent via DHL that day. YMMV

Anyone have a part number for the EBC pads? I know we keep some in stock at Capitol and I can check to see if we have those - just need to know the part number since I'm at home and not at work.
---Just checked and we do have the OEM pads in stock for about $35. We could have them shipped out today or tomorrow. Send me a PM if you're interested or you can call up Todd, our parts guy at Capitol BMW, at 919-834-5111.

I know the graphite compound pads are EBC part number FA18.
The steel back plate has to be altered a bit to fit, about 5 minutes work for each pad.

I got my last set from Capital Cycle (1 800 642-5100). Their prices are good and are quick on delivery. They are up in Sterling VA outside of DC and being a Virginian myself, I do like to do business in the Commonwealth when I can.

Wow. Thanks to everyone for the huge response. I finally got hold of Hammersley, and they rustled up a set for me, which I picked up at lunch. $31 with tax. $15 less than A&S with shipping -- probably brak even with gas.
Of course the 2-1/2 hr round trip made for a long lunch. Guess I'm working late.
May still have a set coming from A&S since they didn't confirm my cancelled order. Fortunately they're small and I should have no problem losing them between now and the next replacement.
Brakes (check)
Tires (pending)
Gathering (fingers crossed)

Rt 460 Roanoke to Lynchburg is not a bad ride. Did you take the bike? Although it is HOT today!
-
No, I drove the cage. (company pays for gas.)

Where are you from, Yikes?
