Title: Great ride Saturday
Post by: Bob_Roller on March 15, 2020, 11:23:35 AM
Got out of work early yesterday 12 noon .
Weather was perfect 77 F, 25 C, clear sunny and 100 + mile visibility .
Traffic was very light  on Interstate 10 leaving Phoenix.
Uncommon for a Saturday afternoon .
Got onto two lane road heading towards Gila Bend, didn't see another vehicle for an hour .
Got on Interstate 8 west bound for about an hour no other vehicles n the road .
Turned around and headed back, stopped at one of my favorite stops, Dateland, AZ. for one of their ' world famous date milk shakes ' .

https://www.dateland.com/

I was their first customer in hours  .
Don't know how this current situation will turn out .
But people are in full panic mode !!!
I work for a domestic US airline and passengers are shunning air travel .
The airline I work for has cut about 50% of the flights into and out of Phoenix .
I would not be surprised if the air travel industry is shut down in the US in the not too distant future !!

I think that all the people you were missing out there in Arizona were busy panic buying here in Nashville; things have reached a ridiculous state here.  The shoppers (shall we say "panic buyers?) at the Kroger store in my part of town didn't even leave any CANNED meat (like, Spam or Corned Beef, which cannot normally be given away). Bread?  NO. Beer? NO.  Fresh veggies?  NO.  Eggs?  NO.  Fresh meat?  Don't be silly.....NO!

This situation is absurd!

Aussies aren't the only panic buyers after all. I shall have to find the article on Facebook about Motorbikes and the virus, it was funny but some of it actually made sense.

Fuel prices in my area are just below $2US per US gallon, $.52 per liter .
Taking the bikes out this weekend for an extended cruise .
Weather forecast for this weekend is clear sunny and mid 70's F, 24 C .

I've been in the boonies for 3 weeks but when the wife came back up on Monday she said it was $1.45 when she filled up in TX.

Yep, I saw $1.53 yesterday in Ft Worth at some random station I drove by, I'd guess some of the bargain places might be even cheaper.
