Are there any members near to Fayetteville. Just got a job offer in the area and was interested in what it is like.

A lot of good riding.

For me, it'd have to be a FINE (and well paid) job to leave the beautiful coast of Georgia. I have done projects in the past down in that area, and it is a wonderful place to be. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Fayetteville is not that bad, wife.gov has family there and I have been through there a few times. College town and all...
Our cabin is in OK not too far from there and the weather isn't too bad but will be colder that GA in the winters I would expect.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am no stranger to cold winters, having lives for 8 years in Fairbanks, AK. I don't mind a little cold and occasional snow, just not months of it. As for the coast of GA, yes it is nice...at times. Upper 90* heat and 100% humidity gets old after 3-4 months of it though. Putting up Christmas decorations in shorts and sandals just isn't right. But the biggest reason is I am tired of dealing with hurricanes. In the last 5 years I have had to replace my roof twice due to storm damage. Sure I have homeowners insurance but check all the policies. They have special deductibles for storm damage. A new $9000 roof and they only pay 60% gets old after a few times.
I was "retired" by IBM a few years ago after almost 30 years. I am not ready to fade off into the sunset. The VA has offered a Network Administrator in a Medical Center and I can help my fellow Vets.
Justin, I lived in SW OK for a while and weekend trips to the Ouachita National Forest on the OK/AR border were wonderful. Your cabin must be a nice getaway.

marcmax - yeah, we love it up there and the wife would move up there full time given half a chance even if it meant living in a one room cabin! It does get a bit hot in the summer and the humidity is a bit higher than I like but it's still beautiful. It's nice having a 1.7M acre backyard, too! ;D

In the case of all the above, I hereby agree......much as I love the coast, I am now certain that you are right, and the job helping out your fellow vets is a great opportunity, both financially and from the sense of inner satisfaction you will have. Good luck; you will doubtless find some Airheads to ride with; maybe even on R65's.

I live in SWMO. There's a great dealer in Bentonville. Lots of great riding of course. Bentonville, Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers is almost a small metroplex. Beware - we sometimes trade tornadoes for hurricanes.
