Title: steib sidecar
Post by: wilcom on August 11, 2017, 09:43:46 AM
Does anyone have a Steib sidecar?

I picked up a nik-nak at a garage sale a couple of months ago. It's really cool even though it's not true to any year model of BMW.

If it was representative of a R65LS I would already have it in a glass case. But, alas,  it is not and I'm not a sidecar guy at all. What I would like to do is get this to someone with a sidecar  like this that would appreciate it for what it is.

There are lots of nice lil touches the artist or Asian sweatshop employee put on the model to signify it's heritage. Never mind the plunger frame and disc brakes LOL.  It's all metal.

Would just like to get this nifty thing to someone that would have an appreciation for it.

Drop me a PM

That's a great find!  And probably the most affordable way to get a Steib??

My /2 conversion rig had a front disk brake - after I snapped a brake cable on the original drum in a panic stop.

If no Steibers come forward, I'd offer to give it a home.  But not sure my shrine is worthy???

I spotted a fishing pole when I drove down the street past the garage sale. Always looking for "boy stuff" at one of these. I stopped to see if they were parting out their poor deceased husbands treasures..... There wasn't much there, the pole was broken, but I did spot the bitch'n beemer with chair setting among some old silverware and a few lamps.

I went up to the gal run'n the show and in my most disinterested voice asked what she wanted for the little bike? drummmmmmm rollllllllll "two bucks", she said.......

Score one for the Airhead guy, It was mine...........

With a picture of a red sidecar rig in the back ground and using the word "shrine" for your lil display, I think the Beemer model will get the love it needs at your place.

I'll teach it to say Y'all and send it on it's way  ;D

The pic in the back is a photo of mine. It's a plain old Velorex. Like Justin, I'd love a full sized Steib but that's just a dream....

Being a former sidehack driver I think it is going to a good home. Enjoy!

Oh man, I certainly appreciate the compliment but now I'm concerned that I'll have some strict standards to uphold.  I hope I'm worthy!  I'd better get out the feather duster, for a start.

Naturally we will require pics once it has landed and in place.

A good pic would be the lil guy in the foreground and your rig in the background equalizing the size...............

I had just gotten home from a ride and saw the box on the porch so this was the first pic of it out of the box, I hadn't even gone in the house.

It will be a little while but I will see if I can get some more interesting shots in the future.

Thanks!  I had kind of a crappy day yesterday, that was a nice way to end it.  And a great new addition to my fleet.

    Much appreciated!!
