OK I have an R65LS and I am having difficulty getting it started. At the end of Last season I went on vacation and the motorcycle sat for a while. When I returned and tried to ride it to storage it would not start. The bike would turn over and then stopped. When I hit the started all I got was a "click" sound. I assumed I killed the battery. I have replaced the battery and still all I get now is the click sound. I tested the starter and it worked fine. Any suggestions as to where to go from her since it is not the battery or the starter? Thanks

Are you *sure* that the battery you put in is fully charged ? If it was, and you do just get a "click", then
we're going to have to do quite a bit more question asking. First, do you have a multimeter, or voltmeter,
or can you get one ?
How did you test the starter - did you connect it directly to another battery ?
When you have the ignition on, do the dash panel lights and/or the headlight come on ?

Call me, Andrew. I am back on the N.E. side, in Lawrence. 372.6890
We could probably get this resolved this weekend.
You need to check the connections at the battery, of course, but you also need to check the other end of both the positive and negative cables at their other ends. For the positive, this means removing the fuel tank and starter cover. And be gentle with the fastener on the negative cable on the transmission. You don't want to strip it out.
Also, on the positive cable, generally on the end that connects to the battery, pull back the insulation a bit and see if the cable has become corroded on the inside. In that case, a replacement cable is in order.
All connections need to be clean and bright and reassembled with dielectric grease. (radio shack or auto parts store)
I'm glad you finally got the R65 you have been wanting!
