Title: Steering bearings
Post by: Danno on May 28, 2008, 08:04:50 AM
The steering on the R65 is or has gotten really tight. Is there anything unusual I need to be aware of as I disassemble to check it out? What has me concerned is that I noticed what look like pipe wrench marks on the big knurled nut.

Hi Danno

I am not a technical expert, but maybe it is about time to replace the stearing bearings. I recently experienced the same problem with my Kawasaki, and during inspection I discovered that the bottom bearing was badly rusted, and had to be replaced.

I do have a feeling that this could be a common problem with many of the older  bikes -regardless make or model.

Regards

Danie
