I know there's at least a couple of R65s in the Lone Star state. Anybody have some interest in a meet 'n' greet? Location of those interested would determine meeting points and so forth.
I've got a bit of free time on my hands for the next couple of weeks, and I'm looking to ride!

Pretty quiet on this board lately...... I would be interested in a meet n greet in sunny Texas .... anyone want to loan me a bike and pay the airfare ?

Thanksgiving Day, it's raining and the Dallas Cowboys continue their losing ways. Forecast for the next few days is more of the same. In Austin, it's raining on Matt, too.

S'posed to be a turd-floater this evening and more for tomorrow... :-( Lou, I can loan you an Airhead but can only provide "moral support" on the airfare!

I have another Texas trip in the planning, my head is full of great ideas as a result of a subscription to "Texas Highways" provided by a member of the Texas Tourist Information Board

I am wrestling with wifey over dates but we will be skirting the Gulf coast from Beaumont before probably heading here.... as a touring base for the Mehican boarder towns

Then up to Cow Town for the Chuck Wagon Cook off and general Horsing around (late October) I want to go next year however Lady Di wants to go 2017 and tie it up with something else she has plans for. I will be in no rush as I expect to retire before then so should be State side for 3 or 4 weeks.
Based on past experience I am not holding my breath so see you guys in 2017 [smiley=whip.gif].

And how. Picked a bad time to have the axel bushing replaced on the 4WD. At least today and yesterday was nice.
Still have all that free time on my hands, except I'm camping this weekend, if anybody wants to meet for a spin. Ran Lime Creek Rd a few times recently, thinking about Three Sisters.
-
Love the Three Twisted Sisters. Take a break at the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop. The motorcycle museum in Vanderpool is a must see. Watch out for muppets n' squids on weekends.
-
Check the operating hours/days of the museum before you go. Suraklyn and I just happened by there on a day they were closed! :(
-
I live here in the Fort Worth area,I would not mind riding with some of y'all .
especially until I learn to trust my R65 ,Been riding the fuel injected Harley ,got toget use to the carbs :)
-
You'll need to ride over some day and we'll go puttin' around here to see if we can figure out what's going on.
-
Pretty new on here and amazed at how little interaction there is most of the time. I'm checking in every day and some days its the same as the day before: Nothing!
So to answer your question of November last, Yes I would be interested in a ride through the Hill Country WHEN I'm familiar enough with this new girl and she is safely back together again to my satisfaction. Right now she is in bits and pieces so that I can deal with rust and corrosion issues before a repaint and pretty-up. She was running well when purchased last month and no reason to believe she wont be when she is looking and feeling clean and fresh. So in a month or two (when its ungodly hot of course) I might be ready for that. Otherwise it will be next fall. But yes I would like to meet up with other like souls, kick some tires and flip a throttle around with y'all.

Despite the number of members on this forum, there are about 30 ish or so ' active ' members that post regularly and 20-30 that post infrequently .

No rules as to how often members must post or respond. Lurk about, start a thread or tear up something so we can fix it. The internet is a big church. You just have to find your own pew.

I only read the chit chat and technical sub forums, and usually only on workdays! Certainly let us know once you're back on the road, the great thing about central Texas is the riding season hardly ever ends.
The gulf coast is my destination this weekend, but I think I'm taking my 4Runner instead of the bike. A few more amenities for camping on the beach than the R65!

Currently without the R65 since I bequeathed it to my son who migrated to Portland, OR. However, Lou, there are two R90/6 in the stable, Jake and Elwood. The project for today is to fit new skins on Jake. Existing tires were made in '03 and 02 respectively. Seems the PO believed in getting every last dime out of the machine. But once the new Pirellis are mounted I'll finish the break in on the Siebenrock kit and be ready to ride. I'd love to show you some of the sites in Texas next time you are here. Monte knows a few roads I don't often ride and I'm sure I know some as well.
