Title: Where to get batteries in australia
Post by: black pearl on September 25, 2015, 11:37:32 PM
Hi

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere however my search efforts weren't successful.

Having collected my first ever R65 on Thursday from the transport company I've found that she won't start and the battery is dead.

My efforts at local battery shops and car accessory places (SCA, Autobarn, Repco etc) have not delivered any results.

Any suggestions where I might find a battery.

I'm coming up with the motobatt  btx30u as the suitable option.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Rob

Well not a lot of luck over the weekend. No one seemed to stock these although plenty said they could get them in - motobatt's . I eventually found a BM Specialist service place in Ringwood who stocked SSB's. After a quick install I fired up the old girl for the first time (since I have had her) . She started first time. Lovely.

Now I just need to learn to ride..... ;)

Cheers

Well done Rob. Happy to hear you got it sorted.

I learnt to ride on my R65 last year, by first motorcycle. I think you will find the R65  very forgiving.  Hopefully there will be some near you to do a bit of mentoring for you.

Battery World.  You know, the one with the purple paint job.  Fairly common around the place.

I have managed to get batteries there for R, F and K models.  In fact I will be collecting a new F one soon.  Generally they tend to be Yuasa and just the standard sized battery.

Even though I have not tried, you may be able to find a local lawn mower shop where batteries are generally cheaper.

They carry the 'Volt' brand of sealed AGM battery which is a good choice, however you can do a little better than Battery World's $125 price tag if you hunt around.

look for a battery for an R80 G/S, they are the same size, if the sales person cannot find R65 in their catalogue.

Hope to get out again this weekend after my first real ride last Friday.

Will definitely look to find some Melbourne R65 riders nearby to ride with over the next few weeks.

Thanks Tony

I check them but it was going to require a wait and I wanted her running immediately. Next time......
