Post by: Slow on June 22, 2015, 01:11:05 PM
Hi Guys, it was time for a upgrade, so give my BM a fresh coat of paint and fitted a S fearing.

Nice looking install on the "S-style" fairing.  Did you us BMW OEM attach components or fabricate your own? I have fitted S fairings on an R90 and an R100/7 using the often pricey attach bits. They do add a certain panache to an Airhead.

I had to fabricate my own brackets for the handlebars as there is no nut on the top of the fork to attached the original brackets.

I had to change the original head light 7" to 8" R100 head light.
Other that that it was very easy to fit.

My 65 had the RS fearing on before and I must say it handles much better with the smaller S fearing.

love it!

Part of me would like to fit a healthy R100RS engine to a R65.....Put the RS fairing on as well and that would really trick the punters.

I love the S-fairing, Slow. Looks great! That is definitely the way I'd choose to go if I ever decided to change the R65LS Hans Muth 1/4 fairing.
Did the change take you hours of fabricating and juggling bits about?

To be honest, it was very easy and straight forward.
The hardest and time consuming part was removing the RS fearing.

The bike handles better at lower speed in and around town, but not a stable as the RS fearing at speed over 150km/h, but very nice to cruise around 120 to 130 km/h.
