Good day all, I dont know if anyone is interested but I thought I would add it any way. I am always searching the internet for how to transport my fat bike, I can never find exactlly what I am looking for, imagination engauge!. Well I really like mountain biking and gas prices are starting to go up again so taking my truck around town gets kinda expensive. Da Da DAAAAAAA!! I have a motorcycle!! how can I get these two to work together? Internet here I come. Well I will get on with it. I went to Menards and bought some steel tubing, brought it to work and bent it and welded (well tried to) and throw it on. It works pretty good but I took to long in making it so I could to take too much of a test ride. I did give the welds a drop test from about 5 feet and everything held. I hit each weld with a BFH (Big Freakin Hammer) and everything held so test three just hook it up and see what happens. As Captain Ron would say, " If anything is going to happen, it will happen out there." Alright no more jabber jawing here are the pics. Good day Tony, yes that was deffinatly not a though while building it, DOH!! :-/ Just before I put the rack on I took everything out of both trays and will keep them somewhere else. Hind sight is always 20/20 :) Maybe rack 2.0 will be able to flip up or something so that I can get under the seat. Have a great day/night all.

Luke, you might want to check out what these guys offer for some ideas before you design v2. I used one of these in the days when I was still a competitive road cyclist. Had it on my K75 and could carry my bicycle on the rack and all my kit in the panniers.

Good day all. Marcmax I was looking into getting one of those, until I saw the price tag. :( Kinda spendy, yes I know you get what you pay for but I am kind of in a penny pinch at the moment that's why I am switching to the motorcycle for most things now. I did like their design but another thing is weight. I don't know how much weight my rack can hold. With my fat bike weighing in around 40lbs I don't want to break my motorcycle, so I thought by spreading the weight out it would be less likely to break.
Nhmaf the wheels go under the bike. ;) Just joshing you, here are two more pictures of the finished rack (painted and being used)

Luke, if I remember right, the one I was using connected to the rack at point A then had two legs on either side that connected to where the passenger pegs are located. Three point attachment was very stable and angled so that the weight was directed forward towards the front attachment points. Granted a road bike weighs much less than your fat bike but shifting the weight forward takes a lot of pressure off your R65's rack.
Oh by the way, awesome job!

Looks good to me. My bike (2012 Salsa Fargo) won't fit in my car, so I need to see if my wife's Hollywood rear rack will fit my car. It gets better mpg than my R65 anyway.
I wouldn't normally consider driving some place to ride my bike. I live in the woods, after all. But during fire season the private timber companies close their lands to all public entry, not just my favorite sign "No motorized vehicles beyond this point."
