Good day all,
I don't know how many of you were fans of the original Mad Max movies but I went and saw the new one that just came out. While watching the movie there were a few scenes that had some motorcycles. Normally I would not think of anything but I noticed that there were two (possibly three) Beemers in there. I thought it was kind of cool that not everyone has forgotten about the good ol airheads yet. Here is a link if anyone is interested that has the motorcycles from the movie.

There is an actor in this Mad Max who has links to previous Mad Max episodes and also an early 1974 Australian "Bikie" movie , Stone, which ha become something of a cult classic. Stone was shot around suburban Sydney. The film is warmly remembered by Sydney bike riders.

Hugh Keays-Byrne as Immortan Joe in the new move was also ToeCutter in the 1979 Mad Max. In Stone he played Toad, the tripping bikie in the first few scenes of Stone.

I saw the first Mad Max when it debuted in the USA in 1979. Caught the latest Mad Max Fury Road at our local Movie Tavern that offers good food and adult beverages while you enjoy non-stop "Max" action. Revolver Brewery has a tasty new offering that was a perfect accompaniment to the movie- "Blood & Honey"
Our server was a pleasant young man -perhaps very early 20's- who inquired if we had seen the earlier three Mad Max movies. He said after seeing Fury Road, he had binge-watched the three previous flicks which he had never seen. Guess we're geezers as the first two films were released before this cat was even born.
There is that added benefit of qualifying for senior discounts: Our tickets were only $3.50.

Stone, wow that's a blast from my past first saw that film on a late night double feature with Mad Max 2 at the old ABC cinema in Southport. Thanks for posting the link Michael, because I would not mind seeing it again.

I liked the original Mad Max movie best. I still have a VHS tape of it.

I've actually got a dvd of Stone in my collection, too.
I haven't seen the new Max movie yet, but people tell me that it is mostly older women riding on the airheads.
Maybe that is where we are headed?!?!

Plenty of other eye candy traveling with Max. Oh, yes.
Late in the movie, Max and company come upon the small remnants of a community barely surviving in the desert. Yes, some older gals on a variety of movie-modified motorcycles. They're pretty cool gals and know how to fight.
Spoiler Alert: They get whacked by the bad guys.

We listened to 8 track when we couldn't watch VHS. Oh I just marked myself as one of them who might like looking at the "older women".
