13 August 2011:
We had a visit from what really looked like a spammer in this thread, so I am tightening down security.
I have changed the password and deleted the user name from the thread, so potential spammers cannot go in and screw with it.
If you want to be added to the map, just PM me or send me an email and tell me your info and I will add it myself.

Congratulations to SinSity_R65 for being the first to add himself to the map!
-
I just edited my bookmark. :-) Thanks for the access, Rob. Great idea. (And I love the password. ;) )
-
I cleaned up poor Darwin's confusion (no worries, mate!), so Darwin, you may want to check it out and make sure I have it the way you want it.
Too bad I can't see your picture through my firewall here at work. :(
-
Even this old guy was able to add a bookmark on the map.
Thanks Rob.

I can't believe with all our members in England, there is only ONE marker on the island!
-
I will have to use another pc that I have google earth on, or try to find my old GPS unit to get long/lat data to enter my location onto the map, as the street address info for me isn't correct. >:(

You can pick up and drag the marker to wherever you want it to be.
-
I hope I managed to add myself to the map without messing it up.
It is not my exact address, I will correct it later.

It looks fine, NorR65! And welcome to the map! :)
Moving your pointer is very easy.
My! You certainly live out amongst the sea, don't you?

Thanks
It is a short drive to the sea, a little longer to the fjords and mountains.
When I can thrust my R65 for longer trips I will get some photographs from my trips. At the moment I use my Yamaha Tenere.
If it is allowed here is a link to tourist information from Bergen/Norway.

Sure, stuff like that is allowed! We are a friendly bunch, here.

I just figured it out and added myself.
Go to the map and sign in with the username and password listed by Rob on the 1st post of this thread.
If you have a Google account, you may need to log out, first. mod.
On the left pane of the screen click edit, create yourself a name and save it
On the map the blue symbol appears at the top, drag this to your location and allocate your name to it.

I just added BMW headquarters in Munich! :)

no luck w/ ipad

no luck w/ ipad
I don't know what an ipad is. You might try it with a regular computer if you get the chance.
-
There's no instructions on adding a point, the only choices on the left panel are set default location, and add your business location to google maps, so I'm stumped. PS Google has never recognized my address, I use something nearby when getting driving directions, if that matters. PS - I logged in no problem.
Never mind, got it, not sure what I did, except went back a page or something. Boy, no one near me, except Toronto.

I'm glad you got on there!

Log in to the map, zoom into your location (or click on your name on the left), then click on "Edit".
You can then click & drag the marker to wherever you want.
Then "Save".

We had a new, 1-post user post a 1-word reply to this thread, "congratulations".
It smelled like spam to me, so I copied the username and sent if off to Justin for deletion, then I deleted the post.
Justin asked if there was anything I could do to tighten security on the map, so I deleted the instructions in the OP and changed the password.
I'll be happy to share the password with one or two other trusted regulars, but from now on, all new additions to the map will have to be done through me or one of the other volunteers.
See the OP for details.
-
I am still the only member with logon information to this map, and if anything were to happen to me that would be lost, so I need a couple of volunteers to accept co-responsibility with me. No big deal, but I keel over suddenly, it would become an issue.
Also, I removed everyone's street addresses that put them on there when we had open placement.
I don't think it is such a good idea for that information to be public.
And lastly, who is our member that lives in South Africa?
He made his user name the "Durbanville", which is the city where he lives.
I would like to put his correct handle in there.

I changed it to Danie. He can always correct me if it's not him. Thanks!

Our most recent addition, Rudi76, gives us TWO members in the Cape Town, SA area!
And I changed my signature line to include a link to the map.
-
The marker for me, is actually on my house, that's almost scarily accurate !!!!!

I took your marker out of the neighborhood, Bob! :)

Thanks to Tony Smith, we are getting the perimeter of Australia covered nicely!

And now Kookaburra makes for 3 in Sydney alone!
-
Been a bit crook (that's as in ill, indisposed, etc. I haven't been stealing anything, honest) but now laughing my head off. I can't remember how to access the map. Can anyone assist. I've moved from Sydney to the Shoalhaven.
