As the new 2014 season for MotoGP approaches, organizer Dorna continues to tweak rules and classifications in an attempt to fill race day grids while lining it's own pockets.
Following close on the heels of the mildly pathetic CRT class (you'll perhaps recall their proper racing name... Back Markers) Dorna is looking at a third classification for entry into MotoGP.
Located a spy shot from a recent test day at Sepang...

That's about all I'll get to see Monte.
We don't get to watch Moto GP this year without a subscription as coverage was sold to the highest bidder. The BBC couldn't or didn't want to compete.

I am gutted I refuse to line the pockets of that SOB Murdick and his family the lot of them should be in Jail..... I note that at last Peirs Morgan has had his collar felt as well (not before time, I remember a radio interview years back when he was bragging about his journalists hacking) ..... I too will not see it only the highlights which I believe the Beep will show at some obscure hour.

Those boots look very comfortable!
The BBC coverage last year was excellent with a very good team team, we shall wait and see what the new season brings...

http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2014/BT+Sport+announces+MotoGP+programmes+and+presenters
Whilst I appreciate that getting the coverage requires a subscription, having a 19 year old football mad son does have some advantages, we 'have' ( ::) to have BT Sport to watch football and MotoGP.
Shame it's not free to air, but subscription appears to be where the media world is taking us and not just in TV, newspapers want the same...

I may take up the BT offer when my current broadband/mobile deal expires... as usual the dice are loaded against us mere mortals, I did a deal with orange which has had the terms changed and price increase now they are part of EE ??? how is that legal ??

Lou,
It would appear that many things are above the law these days.
Hope all is well with you & the family?

For anyone in the UK mourning BBC's loss of MotoGP coverage it seems ITV have acquired the right to show highlights. There is a 1hour programme on tonight at 8.00pm

Watched the live broadcast Sunday afternoon as it was a night race in Qatar. Catch any replays you can as it was an amazing spectacle. No spoiler but the newspapers have probably spilled the results.
I just upgraded my CTV package to grab the British Superbike series and other 2 n' 4 wheeled sportys. With that deal, I couldn't resist buying a larger flat screen TV and a modest sound system.
-
I already know the result and it does sound like a great race with Marquez and Rossi swapping places down to the wire. When I heard that I went in search of some way of watching the highlights.
-
I'll miss the live action this year. I was very disappointed with the organization last year, at least outside the park. Once inside the park the racing was great but I refuse to pay $12 for a 12 oz frosty and $9 for a hot dog. Sorry, it's not worth it. I'll stay home and watch on TV this year. For free.

The race was excellent Bradl was going great guns and would have made podium if he had stayed on!
The BT coverage was average at best, the presenter (Melanie Sykes who doesn't seem to mind taking her clothes off!) was rubbish, constantly referring to her notes and has no knowledge of what she is talking about. The BBC girl presenter (Azi Farni) knows her stuff and the riders. And the commentators (can't remember their names, but they presented WSB) really wind me up.
Great circuit and night racing looks really good on camera.
Lets see how the season fares, I would like to see Ducati do well.

The ITV4 coverage was similar but better than nothing. I wish the BBC could have retained rights to the highlights then at least we would have a decent presentation team.
-
I watched it (highlights) I thought the last few laps were great but it was a bit weird under floodlights, presumably that was for a TV deal

Much like NASCAR racing under the lights, the night MotoGP race in Qatar does boost viewing. But the night time GP was initially begun for rider safety reasons. The extreme day-time heat in Qatar created tire issues for the bikes which impacted rider safety and, ultimately, podium finishes.
