Why can't they make a program about a real restoration without all the messing about and fake deadlines. I don't give a rats arse if one of the blokes can't get up in the morning! I would be very interested in a nut and bolt restoration of a series of classic bikes though!

I like the "Wheeler Dealers" show. I wish they'd do something similar with bikes; take a more-or-less classic machine and bring it back to shape without going overboard.
And yeah, none of the contrived drama :P

I don't waste money on television programming, so I am not subjected to junk like that. I get my T.V. free through the airwaves or better yet, on DVD from the library - sans commercials.

We have to remember that the motorcyclists of this world are a minority. Any program made with a motorcycle theme by non-motorcyclists are going to be tainted with unfortunate stereotypes and some added 'drama' however it is contrived.
Not all motorcyclists, motorcycle builders and mechanics are hard drinking/smoking unreliable loners with some sort of axe to grind....Or are we (discuss)?
Not sure how he is paying any of his 'staff' wages with the few 'sheckles' he makes off the 'show bikes'. Everyone else must be being fleeced. Unless they do it all for free.
And I would hope there is far more 'behind the scenes' tinkering going on before he attempts to fire up an untouched engine that has been languishing in the back of a garage for 20+ years.
Still, I love his workshop environment, but I am not sure I would like it if I had worked on a bike for two days+ only to have the manager/owner turn up at the last minute to claim the glory of the first startup.......
Bikes are great though - nice to see/hear some proper bikes though. None of that electronic/plastic crap.
I will still watch it, but you will still hear/see me sighing and shaking my head every now and again....

Have you watched "Wheeler Dealers"? A very small amount of hand-wringing over budgets, but the people get along and enjoy what they do.
And "This Old House", which pretty much invented the genre of DIY tv. It's been popular for decades with none of the formulaic manufactured drama.
But I agree, any show about motorcycles that didn't bow to the current trend of overblown personalities would have a limited market. But I'd watch it! ;)

On again last night, I got myself comfy, sent the Mrs upstairs, but when I saw the preamble of the show i could not bear to sit through all that trash! So I turned over, invited the Mrs back downstairs and watched a decent show, also from the states! Person of Interest. Worth a watch 8-)

I think you should have stuck at it. It was not as bad as all that in the end.
After he initial furore it settle down and was watchable. Am I softening?
