Title: Roof Helmets Anyone ?
Post by: 65shawn on November 21, 2013, 12:12:32 AM
Hi gang,

Looking to pick up a pair of bright white Roof Desmo(s) for myself and my girl.

I'm in Florida so, the EU safety designation is just fine ... (here we aren't required to wear DOT or any other helmets, but ... I wear helmets.

Any suggestions on where the right place to pick these up from would be? I'm hesitant to hand over greenbacks to a random shop in Italy.

Any advice would be appreciated, especially concerning reliable shipping and cheaper prices!  8-)

Cheers!

They will be okay.  As a flip-up helmet it could be argued that they won't offer as much protection as a fixed full face helmet.  But better than an open face.  At least the visor will keep the bugs at bay.

Style wise I like them.  But my head does not.  must have a funny shaped head.

Fit is the most important consideration.  Not too loose and not too tight.

Yeah - I won't buy a helmet that I cannot try on first.
There are round-shaped heads and oval-shaped heads and the manufacturers generally go one way or the other, sometimes offering models in both shapes.

And if you find a dealer with them on the shelf for you to try - SUPPORT HIM!

Agreed - find a dealer where you can try one on.  Both size and shape issues are important in being comfortable in a helmet.

On a side note - my preference is for a EU standard helmet.  IMO, DOT standards are little on the light side in terms of protection.  IMO, the Snell standard is a little too hard in that it allows more force to be tranmitted thought the helmet to skull/brain and poses a higher risk for tramatic brain injury.   Eu falls nicely in between.

Please - let's keep this section of the forum for buying, selling, or trading items, or maybe "Want to Buy" listings, but not general discussion stuff.   The goal is to periodically sweep this section out after items are no longer for sale, not available, or alternates found, not a general discussion.
