I saw this somewhere on the internet, Forgot where. The stuff in it looks interesting as well as that it has a 1st gen R65 as the cover model bike.
Funny thing though, they use the designation R65/7 to specify the cover page model bike.

Here's also an interesting piece of information that I never knew existed there, "The R65 has a flashing alert when the tachometer exceeds the redline".
Anybody willing to try that out? ;D

Thanks for sharing [smiley=bmw_smiley.gif] Dave 2

If I'm not mistaken that is the source of our own Steve Hawkins monicker, Rev. Light.
And I always thought with his cafe'd R65 he was a man of the cloth. ;D
-
Oh yes, I tried out my Rev Light a few times when it was new.
Over the years it quit working.
They were only on the "1st gen." - 1978-1980 tachometers.
-
And even then only on a few of them....As I did not have one on my 79, honest...
Rev. Light

It does come on, but you can only see it at night. As far as I know only the 1978/1979 model has the LED over rev warning light. I will try to remember to get a photo of mine and post it here.

Not on my 79 either.

Here is a picture of (what was once) mine:

can you see the picture? I am at work and I can't.
(still not sure what the problem is...)
-
Rob, I'm not at work and I can't see it either. Good news though, as my primary job is not having to go to work.
BTW, thinking that Rev. Light's "cloth" is only used to bind his asphalt rash. ::)

65/7?
Is that the correct technical term for the 65?

No. The R45/65 series never were known by a 'slash'. We don't even rate a plate on the engine cover and I'm good with that.
Citizens will ask: How big is that motor?
Me: 1000 cc
Citizen: Dude, that's so cool! I thought so. Sounds big. [smiley=mad.gif]

I've got the light on my tach. Never tried to see if it works - guess I have an afternoon project now...
