I'm thinking of making a trip over there sometime this fall...

Yes.  I have been there.

It is absolutely fantastic if you are a fan of Indians.  It reportedly has one example of each year/model of Indian, including real early ones.  Some are unrestored, and others are restored.  It is a good mix.

It also has some examples of specialty bikes.  There are a few board track racers, some drag bikes, some custom choppers, and some show bikes.

Be sure to check out the lower/basement displays.  It includes a selection of different types of Harleys, a display of police bikes, and very large display of early motorcycles (pierce, excelsior, henderson, etc.).   It also has some curiosities, such as a Rokon.

If you are looking for BMW, I only saw one in the whole museum.

It is a worthwhile visit (but than, I only live a little over an hour away).  Let me know if/when you are going.

P.S.  If you are going to Color in the Catskills at Hunter Mountain N.Y. the first weekend in October, the museum would be no more than an hour and half from the rally.  The rally is not what it used to be, so a day trip to the museum would make sense for you.
