Title: New Ride
Post by: EGRG on December 22, 2012, 09:45:21 PM
Well I've done it. A 96 K1100 RS SE hooked me.
Much different beast.
Much more complex.
Makes me appreciate owning such a simply pleasurable bike as the R 65LS

When i got my 93 K75Rt last January i was not sure about the "feel" and struggled a bit with the weight of the bike but the more i ride it the more i like it, i think a K1100 may be my next choice should i get the urge to change it but i still love every thing about the R65.
That looks a nice ride... have fun with it
Lou

Victor,

I suspect that beautiful K-bike will become your favorite long distance touring ride.
Texas just got a little smaller. ;)

Congratulations on that beauty.  You'll be whizzing across the lonely stretches of South Texas like the Road Runner.  That thing will do a minute in 30 seconds.

I've heard of guys coming back from a ride a few minutes earlier than they left.  ;)

Thanks guys.
The story I'm giving my wife is that I bought a pair of cowboy boots and the bike just came with them.
And I'm sticking with it.

Of course I just had to take the LS for a ride this weekend to keep her spirits high.
So here are a couple of pictures of our ride to Concan Texas and its Rio Frio
Mind you all I took was the essentials.
Great place to stay at the D Rose Inn in Leakey

The sky's the speed limit. ;)   Or something like that.
Us Mexican airhead riders tend to confuse old sayings in english.

Riding back home we rode the most perfect s curve.
It's between bracketville and spofford. You have to ride it to appreciate it.
It is a railroad crossing underpass that is perfectly symmetrical

Well slowly but surely I've been tending to all the details the previous owner had neglected.
The bike pretty much sat around for some years.
Replaced:
Tires (10 year old )
oil/water pump seals
all oils
fuel injection lines
Brake fluid
Next up are fork seals.

Awesome bike. Long sweeping curves are what it likes most.

Getting the K-Rocket prepped for the MotoGP run, eh Victor?

See you there!

Yup!
My son in law is an avid cyclist but new to motorcycles so we will be taking it carefully with him on the R65. Besides one thing my father always said was. "Despacio, que vamos de prisa"

Your father gave you good advice. [smiley=thumbup.gif] I've heard NASCAR crew chiefs tell their driver to, basically, "Slow down and you'll go faster."
