Title: Brembo Brakes

Willie the "K" is well on the mend after our little spill and a lot of help from ebay, i got all the parts for less than £100 ( fairing, wheel and disc) and while the front wheel is in bits i decided to strip the front calipers to double check possible causes for the "lumpy" braking  as i am replacing the alloy wheel and one of the disc rotors with a new to me one and dont want to damage the replacement by missing something dumb.
 I wanted to check the pistons were all free and was surprised to find they are made of a hard plastic or ceramic, i just wondered when these were introduced Willie is a 93.

Interesting, at least they won't corrode .

They are not the same as the replacement pistons offered by Motworks as these have a small flange/ tang on the inside Motobins dont show the back but the material looks the same ??.

I disassembled brembo calipers both from a R100, an R65 and from a K100. The one from the R65 and the K100 has this flange you were talking about but the one from the R100 has no flange and is flat all the way. Since the piston from the R65 caliper was slightly damaged, I'm using the piston fom the R100 with no noticable difference in performance. The caliper from the R100 was from the earlier models with the rear disc brake though.
