It's on again but as of the last few years has been running in South America. A healthy motorcycle contingent and it appears that the sole BMW is no longer in the race. Dakar.com
We have a half hour segment each evening on TV and each time I watch I am just fascinated by the scenery and the individual effort to survive. And the trucks are just amazing. A fair old sprinkling of riders from all over the globe but mainly populated by Europeans. There are even a few from down here still in the race.
A huge support crew and big money involved. Now if we we start Team R65, riding a R65GS of course, who would we nominate as our number 1 rider. Any takers?
Burt.

Gosh,
Jeez... Are there any more pictures/info on that bike?
Gracious goodness that is beautiful. A new background image for the meantime-
And I am quite the green mechanic,
But I'll keep the crew entertained with music and conversation!

I just watched the Baja 1000 documentary entitled 'from dust to glory' which was a delightful look at all of the disciplines and machines involved- not to mention the commitment to the grueling nature of such a race-
I couldn't help but be brought back to my days of competitive skiing.. and riding the dirt trails of the power lines all around my home- what an 80cc that was...
Anyway, the idea is all the more appealing-
